don't follow the CHL, any chance he gets some Heat time after his CHL year completes?

pretty sure he'd join them on an ATO, yes. But the Winterhawks are a stacked team and I'd be shocked if they crashed out anytime soon. They should compete for the WHL championship again.

Heat are probably done before or right at same time as Portland.

Is $925k standard? That seems like a rookie max.

I feel he is going to be a big part of the Flames future. Such a Steady eddy kind of D-man that does everything well albeit not exceptionally.

His CHL year is likely to go a lot longer than the Heat's season. He plays in Portland, which was the top team in the WHL this year.

Right now, they're up 3-2 on Everett in the first round of the playoffs. If they somehow lost early, I'd expect him to be on the next plane to Abbotsford (if not Calgary).

I've been wondering when we are going to get around to signing some of our prospects. Good news and now for Granlund and Brossoit and a couple of college players.

another likely dumb question.

Does this count against the 50 contract limit, and if so, what # are the flames at now?

no, his ELC starts in the fall. ELCs of CHL players only count if they play more than 9 NHL games (or 5 games in that shortened season). That won't happen, so Wotherspoon's ELC slides to next year.

We're still at 48 contracts.

believe he doesn't count because of the sliding rule... would have to play 10 pro games for it to count.

He really impressed me at the World Juniors, going from being a long-shot to even make the team to being one of Canada's top defencemen in the tournament.
