Bouwmeester to Nashville...
Roman Josi+1st for Bouwmeester+Stempniak
Weber-Bouwmeester would be nice!

re Bouwmeester and the Islanders...
I don't think that he would turn it down (pure speculation, by the way) based on their playoff chances, I see him as having no desire to live in New York.

The Island is a great place to be for a player looking to get a ridiculous contract extension.

If what Bob McKenzie says is correct, we would be getting absolutely fleeced in this trade.
More like:
Ellis + Watson + 1st for Bouwmeester + Stempniak

The Island is a great place to raise a familly. I don't see him walking the streets of Brooklyn though.
As others have said, he is not going to accept a trade to a team at the deadline that is not a shoe in for the playoffs.
Summer time might be the better time to trade him. More teams with hype during the summer. Do you think a player would have said no to Philly, Carolina or Washington last summer?

An extension for Bouwmeester!? Are you serious? He is having his best season, let's not forget after several incredibly disappointing ones, and the team is likely to have its worst finish ever. That is how effective Jay Bouwmeester is. He is a complimentary player that is paid like an all-star.
He is the Paul Stastny of D. He is the Ryan Miller of D. Please, please trade him while we can get something good and do not extend a player that is associated with nothing but team failure!

Aw man, I really wish I hadn't read that Islander rumor.
A 6'4 200lb, 21 year old center with speed, a good shot and 0.8 ppg as a rookie in the AHL.....as PART of a package?
Dayum it anyways.

What do you mean? We own him why can't we extend him? Didn't Semin just sign an extension? Are only pending UFA's allowed to be extended?

You can't sign a player on a multi year deal to a extension until July 1st in the last season of his contact

Can't work on extensions with your own players until they are in the final year of their contract, which for JBo wouldn't be until July 1st.

The calle jarnkrok from Detroit sounds very intriguing. Plus the Detroit pick might be in the late teens.
We also need to start getting some defenders into the fold as well. Can't be like the oilers and just draft forwards then scrap together a patchwork defense.

Could there be a wink-wink nudge nudge, we'll extend you on July 1st?
Either way the Flames need to get answers. Yes if Bouw doesn't want to play here anymore Feaster needs to know that and trade him right now. If he wants to stay, whisper an extension into his ear. None of this second guessing and getting screwed later on. (DUH, we didn't know he wasn't going to stay and walk away so we'll trade him next year for nothing to only one team)

Yes, but unlike the Oilers, we can acquire them via free agency and trades

The only answer we need from his what teams he wants to waive his no trade clause for that is all.
Also going the free agent route does not work. We are finally realizing we need to build from within once we have collected enough assets and can field a respectable team again, then you can add 1-2 top free agents to plug holes.

Holland has always been smart in regards of when to use assets to load up to go for it and when not to. I'd guess they may see this isn't a year they have a shot even in a playoff position and stay out of the Bouwmeester deal.

I'm very curious to see what the Red Wings do. From what I can tell they have pressure on them from both sides as far as trades go. Their top players are 34 (Datsyuk) and 32 (Zetterberg), so I could see the management wanting to pick up a top pairing D to strengthen the team for cup runs in the next two seasons.
On the other hand, it does not seem like they have youth that is going to be able to step in and star as Datsyuk and Zetterberg wind down, so it seems like they would be very reluctant to trade their top prospects, which makes them a mismatch to trade with the Flames.
Edit: On the NBC telecast, Pierre Mcguire just went through Detroit's defensive prospects and was raving about them. So perhaps there is a fit after all with DeKeyser signing and Calgary in need of top prospects at every position.

J BO is worth the same, meaning he could fetch a first round pick and a prospect or two IMO.
Hes not an exciting player to watch, but hes a top 4 who plays good minutes. This guy isnt going to score 20 goals or get 50 points. He is going to score 10 goals max and get yah 35 points. Not worth his huge contract either.
|
They are both upper tier players ...He has time left on his deal... Iggy is a free agent - that's why he is worth more
