I dunno... might want Lindholm at #5, or Nichushkin if your not a Russiaphobe.
Also prediction on pick we get from the Pens: I predict JT Compher.

If we get the number one pick overall, I wouldn't be opposed for the Flames to a drop a spot or two if they can pick up a couple more second rounders, especially if they really believe player A at #3 is as good as player B at #1.
In this scenario, I really wouldn't be afraid of picking Jones at number three and passing over Mackinnon or Drouin IF the Flames can pick up a couple extra picks AND if they really think Jones is the guy to build around. (Change the names around if you want.)
I'm kind of torn, but I wouldn't mind a potential Pronger type to go against Hall, Hopkins. etc.

Agreed. If the Flames get first overall, I wouldn't even mind them getting an extra first rounder for next year to drop a spot.
If the top 3 truly will be Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, you can't go wrong by stock piling picks.

You don't drop from 1st overall for a 2nd rounder or two.
Sorry. Just no.

Is that because there is a clear-cut number one pick this in your estimation? I haven't seen that anywhere, TBQH.
If someone clearly shows that he's better than the other two three guys by the draft, then take him, but I don't see it as being a huge risk this year.

I see most of the big name stars like MacKinnon and a few others along with some overager stats, they would usually have stats for most of the players by now or am I jumping the gun a bit too early?

You know what would be awesome?
If the Flames acquired a 1st from a team fighting for their playoff lives, then won the lottery with that pick all while finishing last on their own. Then the Pens get ousted in round 1 and we could pick 1, 2 and something like 25th. Then we could take Jones & MacKinnon

I like Gauthier alot, where do you project him going? I think I have seen mock drafts with him going anywhere from 9th to 19th

Speaking of Gauthier...
Quote:
Gauthier is not alone when it comes to inexperience in at this level. Rimouski’s playoff roster consists of 11 players born in 1995 and one 1996. To put that into perspective, nearly half of the Oceanic’s 23 players this post-season are young enough to be in high school.
It’s one of the reasons his coach thinks he can use a little more time in junior before making the leap to the pro ranks.
“He’s too young,” Beausoleil admitted. “He’s got a lot of room to improve but he’s close that is for sure.”

Been Reading up on Ryan Hartman lately as he could be around for the newly acquired penguins pick. I like his style of play. Some may say the Flames already have that in Reinhart but I remember watching him in the WJC and he had a good tournament.

If you by some chance the Flames won the lottery and got #1 and #2, you take Drouin and Mckinnon. Period.
I get many are drooling over Jones, but I think Dmen at that age are much more of a longshot and are unproven in terms of durability when coming into the NHL.
You take the 2 kids who are proven in terms of ability and Chemistry.

I'm really interested in Arturri Lehkonen. Second highest scorer in the Ivan Hlinka tournament. Skilled RW fills a need for the Flames. Could be a decent second or third round pick up.

I still like Jones, but I can't help but think that you may be right, and a forward may be a better/safer pick. It'd be interesting to know what each of the teams picking in the top three are thinking about who they really like for the first pick or if they will be undecided until draft day.
Actually, when we get closer to the draft and see how the Flames finish, a poll with regards to who the Flames should pick would be interesting.

Hopefully we win the draft lottery and Colorado offers us an extra pick to switch and take Jones first as they have a need and there is a legacy story there. Then we can take MacKinnon or Barkov (both of who are among the youngest players in the draft and nearly a full year younger than Jones).

There are some gravy combinations the Flames could draft with two top six picks.
McKinnon/Drouin
McKinnon/Nichuskin
Drouin/Barkov
Drouin/Lindhom Definitely my number three option picks 2 and 5
Barkov/Nichushkin (number one option of preference if they could do it.) picks 4 and 6

Apparently Barkov tore something in his shoulder. He's having surgery and it looks like he will be able to start practicing in June.

If we ended up with Drouin and Lindholm, that would be an incredibly successful draft in my books. But I'm all over the Lindholm bandwagon.

Even if the St,Louis pick is around 20 I would like to see the flames grab Valentin Zykov, a big skilled tough russian who plays in the Q.
Button has him at #29 but I suspect he'll go a lot higher

With the St. Louis pick, I am hoping for Bo Horvat if he falls that far. He sounds like a good 2nd/3rd line centre. I don't know why, but I get a Joel Otto vibe from him. His stock sounds like it has been rising (along with Nurse).
Plus, he's a "Horvat", so I am a little biased. Mango agrees.
