Here's hopin for being in 30th, 4 points back of 29th so we can cheer for wins and not worry about losing position.

If we somehow drop into 30th, at the draft I would work every angle possible to pry the 3rd overall from whoever has it. Pick up an 8-10th pick from the Jbo trade, offer them any roster piece and the Jbo pick. Even add the PIT pick in if needed.

Draft both Jones and McKinnon and you've got your offensive and defensive leaders going forward in one draft.

One can dream.

To put it in perspective of just how bad Florida is, they would have to win 2 games in regulation in a row and the Flames would have to lose 4 in regulation, just to tie us and we would still be ahead of them because of ROW wins.

??

The way I'm reading the standings they are 4 points back. If they win two games before we win one (and assuming no OT losses) they have the same amount of points and more wins..?

If by some crazy thing the Flames end up with two top 10 picks I would look closely at Nikita Zadorov who plays here for the Knights. He's huge and can really lay the body. (Russian though) Would fill that Regehr type role.

Oops I messed that up, I meant if they won 2 and we lost 4, we would still be ahead because of ROW wins.

Wouldn't it be funny if we traded Bouwmeester for Calle Järnkrok and a 1st and we ended up drafting Elias Lindholm. They are cousins apparently.

When was the last time (other than the Sedins) when two top 4 picks played on the same line in their draft year?

Galchenyuk and Yakupov. Going further back, Kane and Gagner went 1st and 6th.

Haha, yeah. Just never thought we'd be on the same level as the fall for hall gang.

Good thing it's a short season. Rip the bandage off and hopefully it doesn't hurt for too long.

Unlike you, that's not something that I can do. I am not so dramatic as to call your position "disgusting", but I do find it nonsensical.
Disgusting may have been putting it strongly but like many others, I can't bring myself to cheer for a Flames loss. When I watch the game my heart wants them to win, yet when they lose I'm not that upset about it because I know it's for the better. I'll always cheer for wins, but right now when they lose I don't get terribly upset about it. Didn't mean to touch a nerve.

Here is something interesting I learned about Lindholm off of HF while I was reading about prospects outside of Barkov, Mckinnon and Jones that we might go after in the draft

4th best PPG draft eligible year in SEL history.

.84 - D. Sedin (50gp)
.74 - P. Forsberg (23gp)
.69 - H. Sedin (49gp)
.63 - E. Lindholm (48gp)

You nailed it. They are going into the shootout now.

edit - Caps win in the SO.

FLA ties it with 27 seconds left, looks like they will gain at least a point tonight.

How weird would it be if the Flames maintain their position as one of the top ten offensive teams in the league while placing in the bottom two or three spots...
