Just so you know, theres no chance in hell i would wear a ****ing wings jersey just to wear red. I'd rather wear an away flames jersey anyday... and im sure the flames would agree.

edit: what a rediculous mistake that was.

Does anyone have that pic of the inside of the dome during last season's playoffs showing the Sea of Red while the torch was going off?

The Holy Playoff Ticket of Saddledome

Now did the Lord say, "First thou obtainest the Holy Playoff Ticket. Then thou must wear red. Red shall be the colour of the wearing and the colour of the wearing shall be Red. Black shalt thou not wear, neither shalt thou wear white, excepting that thou then covereth it over with Red. Blue is right out. Once the red, being the colour of the wearing, be worn, then usest thou the Holy Playoff Ticket and cheereth loudly to intimidate thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

As another example; we have a guy in our season ticket pool who is an Oiler fan. In the 2004 playoff run he couldn't bring himself to put on a Flames jersey, so he went out and bought a Team Canada RED jersey.

My favorite, John 3:16, of course:

"For God so loved the Flames, that he gave his only begotten Son, Miikka Kiprusoff, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life in the Stanley Cup Playoffs."

Hmm, it's interesting how Calgary Flames fans are undoubtedly the smartest people on earth, yet we still get the blokes who think green and blue are "close enough" to red...

The Sea of Red was born during the 1986 Flames-Oilers series (hereafter, the greatest playoff series ever played). Play by play guy Don Whitman, observed that most Oilers fans were wearing white that year and remarked towards the end of game 2 that the Oilers would surely face a 'Sea of Red' when they came to Calgary for game 3.

And, in fact, they did.

Thus endeth the lesson.
Exactly, except...the Oilers were asking their fans to wear hats to the games because they were going for their third straight Cup (a hat trick). So the Sea was born to thumb our noses at that nonsense.

Was it Whitman who suggested the red? I knew it was someone on the CBC, but for some reason I thought it was one of the hosts -- whoever was in the role that Kelly Hrudy has now.

Either way, it's the last time anyone on the CBC had a good idea.

Winnipeg, of course, had the White Out, which they started in 1987 as a reaction to facing the Sea of Red in the first round.

I also remember watching the 1987 World Series, when the Cardinals had their own Sea of Red. In fact, during one of the games, I remember seeing a fan holding a sign that said something like, "Hey Cowtown, how's this for a Sea of Red?" That made me laugh.

One more question:

Although it won't be seen by (too m)any of ther other people in the dome, does choice of underwear colour count for anything? Lucky red boxers, or for the ladies, lucky red thong?

I hate to admit this, but last time this came up I was one of the fallen who believed that a white jersey was better than a red t-shirt. Thankfully, I had a solid support group that helped me see the error of my ways just in time. I wore red to the dome and the white jersey wherever I was for away games. It was the perfect solution. This season I have stilll not gotten a red jersey, but I found myself wearing my red Flames shirts, hoodies etc to all of the games I did go. It seemed just wrong to wear anything but. So, if it's wrong for regular season... Why do it for the playoffs??!!
WEAR RED!!
