Based on his play this season is he worth more than a 2nd?
Doubtful.

I'd be glad for Scrivens and a 3rd.

I sure hope Kipper goes to TO if for no reason other than to leave Gillis stuck with Luongo's contract!

I wouldn't go around expecting a 1st for Kipper if I were you. I mean, if I'm Feaster, I'd ask for one, but I wouldn't expect Nonnis to agree to it.
I could be miles off, but I'd like to see:
To TOR: Kipper + Sarich + 3rd rounder
To CGY: Joe Colborne + late rounder
I hate doing these trade scenarios because I know I'll get flamed haha.
EDIT - Okay, maybe not. How about:
To TOR: Kipper + Cervenka + 4th rounder
To CGY: Joe Colborne + 3rd rounder

Between the weight of having to carry this team for the past 4-5 years and the swiss cheese defense he plays behind, Kipper has to be worn down.
Give him a fresh start with a half way decent team and I bet he's reenergized. Some GM desperately thinking (hoping) that Kipper is the difference between playoffs or not or 1st round or better will make a move... I think. Whether Feaster can optimize, who knows.

I appreciate the reasons why he's playing badly, and by no means is it all him. But if I'm a GM looking to shore up my tending - I'm not sure I give up much of anything for a guy who has been bad more often than good this year.

That is what I think he is worth at the moment as well - a 2nd. Possibly a bit more, but a 2nd I would deem 'fair' for the risk
I wonder how much more Matt Finn is worth now than the 2nd rounder that was used to select him. I know he was pretty high on the list for the Flames this past draft, so you can be reasonably sure that Finn will be the targeted prospect in any deal with TO.
I have a feeling Flames will end up moving Kipper around the draft, however.

Do not trade Kipper to Toronto, never ever ever send another name Flame to that #ucking team.... as a season ticket holder I would cancel my tickets if that ever happened..... this management team better realize that past trade history with this team has been franchise damaging , unless they grossly over pay, scratch that, there is nothing they could give us that I would find acceptable for Kipper... the media over hypes their players, anything that has touched that franchise is tainted, doomed to failure...

Kipper is not bringing back anything more than a 2nd round pick at best. I really would not worry about getting anything off of Toronto's roster because they won't be offering anything.

LoL - I hear ya! However, the market for goalies is pretty low, and the number of teams that Kipper would even agree to go to would be even lower. I would figure it is either TO, or Tampa - and I don't think Kipper would go to Tampa (or that Tampa would necessarily be interested). Any other suggestions?

Roloson grabbed a 1st for Minnesota from the Oilers which almost won the Oilers the Cup in '06. His stats were much stronger than Kipper's are, but that was vintage '06 Wild defense. He was roughly 35 years old at the time.
The Oilers were close to making the playoffs and thought goaltending was the difference between making it or not/being a contender or not.
GMs do crazy things. How crazy? If Kipper doesn't hamstring the Flames with a limited list of team's he'd report to (depending on what the true story is), Feaster may be able to drum up something solid from someone desperate - Toronto (haven't made the playoffs in 8 years), Pittsburgh (Fleury's shaky past couple playoffs), Carolina (sliding and Ward's injury), others?

Good.... I would not want a Flame Legend have his career tainted by playing one second for that team.....

I'd like to see him stop tainting his legacy by playing so poorly for the Flames.

Kipper for a 2nd rounder would be fine.
I also wouldn't mind something around getting colborne in return (plus 3rd as was suggested above). Anything more would be gravy.
I think kipper could be good in TO. Carlyle has that team playing solid 3zone hockey.

Kipper is a goalie who needs a structured defense. Notwithstanding Dion Phaneuf, I think that Kipper would bounce back in Toronto and on other competitive teams as well. He would be a huge upgrade on Reimer in my opinion, although I would understand skepticism from other teams given his play this year. A 2nd alone seems pretty low considering Doug Murray garnered 2 of them and he's having a down season as well (and a UFA).

This is why I would try and get more for Kipper. He's been lousy here, but there is good reason to believe he will improve once he gets behind a better D, and they should have to pay for what they are getting.

I will agree with your post, but as far as "having to pay for" it i don't see it. He is pretty much going to be treated as a UFA rental player on the market. There is to much smoke about whether or not he will be back next year and that will bring his value down.
