Backlund needs to keep getting top minutes and Baertschi needs to be brought up.

Ugly hockey by two pretty terrible teams. Flames looking really bad defensively, not very good hockey to watch.
Might as well play younger guys like Brodie and Backlund non-stop now, nothing to lose. Brodie had a rough game, but Backlund was pretty good.

Yeah, it was Brodie's worst game as a Flame, but a) that's very good considering he's played 89 games in the NHL, and b) we better take it easy on our young players because we're in for the long haul rebuild and I personally couldn't be happier it's upon us.
It's been a long time coming.

Ain't nobody gonna trade for Kiprusoff if they watched that 2nd period. He was not so good.

Easily Stajan's worst game as a Flame this year.

I think kipper is done in this league.
Rough game for Brodie. Why doesn't backlund get top pp mins, and why isn't he on the ice with the empty net?!?
I want baertchi back up playing with backlund. Oh, and tanguay sucks.
I hope all the remaining flames games are like these. Lots of goals, and flames losses.

The only answer I can think of (and it's not a good one) is that perhaps they want to protect his plus minus. Other than that, you got me.

Not a good game for Kipper.
Sarich somehow finishes +2 out of that mess.

Thought they would make the comeback.
If you don't like defence then it was an entertaining game.

The dark days are back.
Great moment with the video tribute.
All Iginla merchandise was 50% off. It was weird. He is really gone.

At this point, I'm really hoping that several more forwards are moved out and we can finish the year by bringing up Baertschi and Horak, and even Reinhart for a taste, so that those guys are the much further along coming into camp next season.
Edit: Breen too

I can't shake the feeling that this might have been Kipper's last game. Not as a Flame, but period. He just looked so disinterested out there, and like he wanted to be anywhere else. The defence was, to put it bluntly, god awful, but some of those goals looked like the result of a guy who just wasn't there.
I won't be surprised to see some sort of injury or malady pop up over the next day or so, and he shuts it down for the season. Queue the July presser.

They pulled off a very emotional win on Wednesday but this team is about to start tanking hard. Again this is a team waiting to be blown up. 2 days off I think there will be some movement pretty soon

I realize a lot of folks around here probably don't give a crap, but any word on when Byron is back?
I'd like to see him play some games.

The streak was bound to end sometime. Entertaining game, however. I had a feeling Flames would lose tonight, but only because Columbus has been a pretty hard-working lunch-pail type of team this year, and are really making a push for the playoffs.
I expect more of these types of games from now on until the rebuild is much further along. Just hope they are entertaining. There will be lots of mistakes out there, and it is only going to get worse from that aspect, but that's that. I am sure the Flames are demoralized at the moment, but still managed to put in a gutsy (if not mistake riddled) effort.

Everyone here should be thanking Kipper for this loss. Let the rebuild begin! Just hope they lose every game from this point forward.

On a Bouwmeester after game interview, it sounded to me as if he said tonight was abominable. Did he say that really, or did I just not hear him properly? Then he was very short with the next question, saying something like "I just answered that". Looked like he was in no mood to tolerate fools.
