I think the way the Iginla to Boston deal was reported as a sure thing by basically everyone illustrates the fact that unverified reports should never be taken as truth. The same lesson applies to the Kiprusoff report.

I wonder if Iggy leaving will have an affect on Kipper. Maybe he still thought there was a chance and maybe now he is looking at what's best for his career.

If Kipper was to leave to win a cup he would have to be the back up and I think his pride will prevent that from happening.

Kipper would be the starter in TO.

I agree, i think there is a better chance that he would except a trade to a team not making the playoffs and being the starter, rather than being the back up for a cup run.
When i say better chance, i mean 3% chance instead of 0%.

I wonder if Kipper would report to the Pens
I think he would!
If Fleury's injury is worse than expected, who knows.

wants to be consulted. Think he's moving too

If he's moved, I'd say to the leafs. He'd be a starter there and the leafs actually look decent

Never said anything about refusing to being traded, or not reporting to any other team. Kypreos is the only one that heard this rumor...
|
Oh my god we are getting right into the "letter of the law" or the "nitty gritty details" on this to defend Kipper.
What Dreger just said isn't much different to what Kyper said, just maybe slightly backed off. Kipper, who doesn't have an NTC, has told the Flames that they better treat him like he does, or he might not report to the team he's traded to. That's not a right he's entitled to in his contract.
He's doing exactly what Kyper said he was, only difference now is that it's not that he wants to play in Calgary, it's he wants choice as to where he goes. I guess it's better that he'll potentially accept a trade to some spots, but the fundemental issue is the same, spoilled millionaire wants to alter the terms of his contract. If controlling where he plays was important to him and his agent, they should have negotiated it into the contract, and the Flames should have negotiated a lower cap hit in exchange for this "perk" Kipper has decided he's entitled too.

Millions/Francis just on and saying Kipper won't be going, nor Gio or Glencross. Not sure how reliable this is but still holding out hope someone approaches us for him prior to deadline. Failing that, hopefully Wang/Snow need another cap circumvention and Feaster can get a 7th rounder or unsigned NCAA prospect for him next year.

I expect Glencross, Hudler, Backlund, Baertschi, Giordano, Brodie, Wideman to be the core that is build around going forward. Everyone else moved by summer 14 except maybe Stempniak.

The NHL player contract is slightly unique because it also has to fall within the framework of the CBA.
Any contracts I've been involved with similar to what you discuss above have termination clauses which lay out what is required for either side to terminate the agreement. The individual is typically required to provide a specific timeframe of notice (ie.30, 60 days notice). From the organization perspective, it usually speaks to performance levels, etc...

Out of that group, I think you keep Hudler and Wideman (unless they asks to be moved), Brodie, Backlund and Baertschi. If you can get a decent value, you trade everyone else.

I would love it if Francis would get moved. Perhaps he could go cover the Panthers. Or maybe he should make the switch to European soccer and never come back to North America.

Won't matter. Kipper will play out the season in red and then retire.

Ah yes the fleecing of Feaster.
PS, if any of these potential deals I just pulled out of my butt turn up as rumors on a blog from a source I am going to laugh constantly for a long long time!
