Was just speculating on the idea, since Calgary was already okay with accepting this same package and Boston was willing to deal 'em .. call it getting bent over because you don't want these certian players but I was just trying to see things from the Flames "potential" perspective and not who I think a better prospect would be.

It's "bent over" because it was a questionable deal for Iggy many thought. That aside, Jbo is currently worth far more in a trade than Iggy was. If you don't see how it's being bent over as the Flames to offer up MORE than we previously offered and throw in Comeau for good measure to get back the same return... well I'm not sure what to say.

With that said, I don't want all of our prospect to be in the NCAA. We do need some balance haha.

Uhm. The entire D section of Philadelphia is injured, there has to be a way to convice Bouwmeester to go to PHI. Hold his wife hostage or something. Kidnap his golden doodle. Holmgren is right desperate for some D. I bet right now a team could offer their 4/5 D man and get Coutourier.

I'm prepared to go full fire sale and give them a two for one special: Bouwmeester AND Butler for Couturier!

That's pretty funny TTC but not really true, at all. It looks "bad" because of the guys we got and tried to get for Iginla but Feaster has been pretty normal in getting some College guys and some CHL guys
Quote:
2012 Entry 21 1 Mark Jankowski C Stanstead College (Quebec)
2012 Entry 42 2 Patrick Sieloff D U.S. National Development
2012 Entry 75 3 Jon Gillies G Indiana Ice [USHL]
2012 Entry 105 4 Brett Kulak D Vancouver Giants [WHL]
2012 Entry 124 5 Ryan Culkin D Quebec Remparts [QMJHL]
2012 Entry 165 6 Coda Gordon L Swift Current Broncos [WHL]
2012 Entry 186 7 Matt DeBlouw F Muskegon Lumberjacks [USHL]
|
CHL - Sieloff, Gordon, Culkin, Kulak
Three guys College bound - Jankowski, Gillies, DeBlouw
Quote:
2011 Entry 13 1 Sven Baertschi L Portland Winterhawks [WHL]
2011 Entry 45 2 Markus Granlund F HIFK Jr. (Finland)
2011 Entry 57 2 Tyler Wotherspoon D Portland Winterhawks
2011 Entry 104 4 John Gaudreau F Dubuque Fighting Saints
2011 Entry 164 6 Laurent Brossoit G Edmonton Oil Kings [WHL]
|
Europe - 1
CHL - 3
College - 1
Craig Button was much more College focused, easily in his first couple years.
And of course anyone getting more then one College guy looks obsessed compared to Darryl "WHL or bust" Sutter.

Update - It has been reported that the Flames and defenseman Jay Bouwmeester have been in discussion about a trade, and further that there is interest from six teams around the NHL. While the teams have not been mentioned so far, I could imagine that the Leafs, Bruins, Canadiens, Oilers, and Kings would be on the list. Possibly even the Blues.
Boston has a few options available to them still, and I could see them having interest in one of Jay Bouwmeester, Mark Giordano, or Lee Stempniak for added depth.

Wish Eklund and his buddies would do some research before spitballing.
Leafs ain't giving up youth - X
Habs/Bruins up against cap - X
Oilers - not a contender - X
Blues - OK
Kings - no first rounder but some interesting young players - maybe
The facts they left off the Wings tells you everything you need to know about this hot piece of garbage passing off as a rumor.

If we are going to daydream about trade returns, how about instead of getting a pending UFA in Filpulla, we trade for an actual asset then we sign Filpulla July 1?
Then we get 2 things to help this team instead of 1.

My dream is Kipper goes on an incredible shutout streak and carries the Flames to the finals vs Penguins. Kipper brings the Cup, Conn Smyth and Iginla regrets leaving.
Oh and Jbo gets traded for any big skilled centre and a first rounder. I wouldn't mind dealing him to Oilers. Their first rounder would be top 5.

That's just it and that is why he will get a bigger return than Iginla. Another year on his contract and not a huge urgency to trade him. I'm sure they wait til the draft and use him to get another couple good picks or move up so unless a team is willing to give a top prospect and first rounder, they don't have a gun to their head to move him. Then again, I don't trust Feaster to fully grasp all that so ya never know.

You should be listing the top 10 to 15 prospects of the potential trade partners. Listing the top 5 will do no good for Flames fans. You are just setting us up for heartbreak.
