I think now that the Flames are no longer a cap team the idea will be a lot more palatable. If it improves the return, they absolutely should do it; not like we'll be needing that space for anything any time soon.

I agree, they should do it.
But we all know they won't. All about principles.

I think ownership wants to turn this thing around ASAP and if it drastically improved the return to eat $2M on Bouw's salary they do it

WIth Iginla and Bouwmeestewr moving out, that's $13.7M in salary. Retaining a couple mill in order to improve the return? I can't imagine a more palatable time for them to do it.

I really like Rattie, but I would hope Flames get more outta St. Louis than just him.
Rattie + Schwartz + 3rd
Rattie + 1st + 2nd
something like this would make me much happier

I think at this point a first rounder HAS to be part of the package for JayBow. I really want to see the Flames get 3 other first rounders that they could package for maybe a higher pick.
I really hope Feaster makes the wings and blues get into a bidding war for JayBow

they can't possibly screw this one up, can they? I mean ... we are talking about a guy that has drastically improved his play this year and is capable of eating 25+ minutes on a regular basis. You have multiple teams interested (could be around six teams, actually) and have the ability to retain some salary because you have a ton of cap space.
The Flames should be looking for a ransom here.

We can't botch up the Bouwmeester trade. He's our best chance at getting a high quality propsect. We need to handle this one carefully and do this right.
We need a top forward and defense prospect for Bouwmeester.

Uneasy feeling about Rattie.
I think Detroit has better prospects to choose from.

A Bouwmeester trade is very important for Feaster and the Flames, to regain...or at least begin to repair the image they appear to be getting around the league, and (reading this site) amongst their hard core fan base.
Can't botch this one up.
If they get Bouwmeester to agree to be traded, and he submits a list, they had better make that list official, and have the player sign whatever documents are needed so this list is finalized, and written in stone.
At that point, that's it for JBo. No more player involvement. Work the list, get THE best deal possible from a team on that list and that's it, JBo goes to that team, no last minute changing of the mind.
Bouwmeester should be able to get a substantially better return than Jarome did for a few reasons.
1. He's not a 17 game rental plus playoffs, he's got one year left.
2. He's in his prime.
3. He has been playing lights out this season.
4. Flames will hopefully learn from the apparent Iggy mistake, and keep the player out of the final decision once the list is provided and signed off on.

I really don't buy into the Ty Rattie hype, seems like more people are wanting him just because him and Sven dominated with Portland together.
I would rather Flames go for Tatar or Nyqvuist and a first

Lol if we trade for rattie we are effed.
Jaden Schwartz and a 1st is a great return. He has the makings if a star 2 way player, which we desperately need. I'd take on a D-man as well.

Bouw to the Blues for Jaden Schwarz and a 1st rd pick in 2013. What I'm hoping for. Other than that package Bouwmeester and Camallari to Ottawa for Zibanejad.

Schwartz and 1st is my hope as well.
Schwartz would give us three legitimate (in my mind) top six wingers of the future, along with Sven and Johnny.
then, hopefully we snag a top flight center prospect early in this years draft (to go along with Jankowksi).
Plus the Pens and Blues 1st rounders.
This could be a big year for our prospect cupboards.

Jaden also fits the flames prospect criteria of coming from the NCAA, works great.
