Paajarvi can be a 15-20 goal guy in the league and play a 2 way game. He should get 10-12 goals this year in a shortned season and has a good 2 way game. He has to play behind Hall, Eberle, Yakupov, and Hemsky on the wings so he gets stuck playing with a guy like no offense Belanger.

I think Paajarvi will be a 45 point player with a 2 way game. Not a 1st line player, but not a 4th line player either. 2nd or 3rd liner depending on the team but responsible in his own end and he can chip in. His confidence has grown the last 15-20 games after a bad season last year.

There have also been rumors in the past of Bouwmeester wanting to go to Edmonton.

So... he's a young winger with offensive potential and size. He's also someone that is rumored to be available. The real point behind the trade, though, is swapping the first-round picks. Who has a pretty good chance of picking high in the first round? Edmonton. Do they want or have a need for Bouwmeester? Yes. Do they have someone that might be available, and is a legit blue-chip prospect forward? Yes, Paajarvi.
2goals in 42 is a far from blue-chip. maybe red.

Doesn't Ottawa have a glut of on the verge goalies?

Bouwmeester to Ottawa for Bishop and a first?

The thought of Bruins trading Lucic in that three team mess is one of the most ridiculous things I've read in a while. I don't want any of the losers from that team up north. They're embarassingly bad given all the so called talent they have.

I think that's the low side for Paajarvi.

The upside is 600 goals and 1300 points

Might be tough to get the first round pick, but it's definitely worth inquiring about. I like what I have seen in Bishop.

If the flames are looking to trade Bouw to Detroit I'd definitely like to see Jarnkrok targeted. With where the Flames are now I wouldn't mind seeing Athanasiou considered as well. He's definitely a raw prospect but he's extremely fast and has found his scoring touch in the OHL this year.

Think Bouw for Jarnkrok and Athanasiou is reasonable?

Paajarvi cannot Schremp his way to success as much as we want to believe it.

We might get more for Bouwmeester if they wait until the end of the season. Right now nobody wants to give up a good player or even a young guy on their lineup because teams are still fighting for the playoff spots. In the preseason especially before the Free Agency frenzy, teams are much willing to give up more to get the player they want. It's not like Bouwmeester is going to be a free agent next season just yet.

I think you make a deal as soon as one comes up that works, waiting has proved costly to this team.

My feelings exactly, would hate to see us wasting a few more years doing a lot of crap shoot. I am concerned that we are to some degree at the mercy of whatever "scraps" other teams have to offer.

I remember getting blasted on here before the season for suggesting Bouwmeester is by far the best defender on the Flames and very underrated league wide. It would be a huge mistake to trade a guy who can control the pace of the game for 30 mins a night. Bouwmeester is a very good #1 all around defender with superstar quantities in his game. The Flames should keep him and add depth in elsewhere.

Is that a joke?

Why on earth would the Flames take Paajarvi in that scenario? If Lucic were available for Iginla, the Flames would take Lucic, not send him off to Edmonton and take a marginal NHLer like Paajarvi back

It was a hockeybuzz "rumour", so yes, it was a joke.
