I wouldn't mind waiting until the draft and trading Bouw and Pittsburghs 1st for one of the top 3 picks, if someone would bite
We could potentially draft McKinnon and Jones, or Drouin and Barkov

I don't think any team picking in the top 3 jumps on that. If they're picking that high(and it's their own pick) it's because they are rebuilding. Rebuilding teams don't need Jay Bouwmeester like players - which is why we're trading him.
Trade him to STL and get Jaden Schwartz please.

Quite often, it's the deadline, but it does limit which teams you can make a deal with.

Ideally you use the lack of pressure as a seller to add pressure to your motivated buyer, so you want to sell him now when you can honestly tell the other GM to go screw himself if the offer isn't good enough, as opposed to the Pens and Iginla when you are so close to losing the player you have to swallow and smile whatever is offered.

Sorry I haven't read the entire thread.
Have we figured out the 6 team list yet?
St. Louis
Detroit
San Jose
Philly
Who are the other two? Boston, Chicago?

I think the draft or after July 1st is often better. You aren't divided between "buyers" and "sellers" and more teams have cap flexibility. IMO, it was the difference when the Phaneuf trade happened. I think his value would have been more in the offseason.
Of course, if you get a good deadline offer, you take it. I just hope it doesn't dictate anything.

I'm sorry I can't hear you over the sound of my gloating.
But honestly, I know we have to rebuild but the reality is really harsh. Doesn't feel good, Iggy's gone, ugh.

I tend to agree; no playoff team is going to part with young roster players, and it sounds like Jay is after that 21-25 year old

That's not really how it works. Players generally decide if they are going to college a couple of years in advance and make their JR league selection based on that choice. If you are in the BCHL or USHL for instance, you are more than likely going to NCAA route. Certainly by the time you are 18, a player knows for sure the route they are going and the team drafting them definitely knows as well.

He's not wrong. Nearly everyone with a voice (media) talks about us as if we are the black sheep of the NHL world.

This would be so awesome, pair him with Sven and watch them rip it up just like in Portland. I think it's definitely a plausible offer.

Pretty much going off on fans hating management and criticizing people outside of the organization for criticizing the organization. And that this HAD to be done and people just hate for the sake of hating the flames. he is pretty much raging.
I was acutally tuning in to listen to what Bouwmeester has to say but I am not sure if I missed it or not.

Well they are. It isn't an arbitrary label - very well deserved.

I'd like a D prospect back for Bouwmeester... there aren't many D on the market next year.

Well I'd say fans frustration at management is absolutely justified by the moves they've made and we will continue to be frustrated until management gives us a reason not to be.
