IMO the deal IS horrible, but you're also correct in saying he should have been moved two years (if not more) ago. Two seperate issues though.

Regehr trade he lost and the others all seem to be at best equal trades.
The best thing in Feasters trades for the Flames is that they have been mainly crap for crap so who really cares who wins the Wahl for Testwuide trade or the Piskula for McGratton deal because they are nothing deals that don't change the fortunes of the Flames.
In terms of big deals it is basically this crap deal, the crap deal Regehr deal and the meh Cammalieri deal.
Add in his terrible work in TB, his inability to make big needed changes with the Flames and his mediocre to awful FA signings and there really isn't much for Feaster to hang his hat on in terms of his record as a GM.

Once more...this was impossible because Morrow was dealt before Pittsburgh ever made an offer if you follow the timeline Iginla himself just laid out.

I'm not even mad at feaster today. This management group had the best winger and goalie in the league for the last decade and didn't know how to create a true contender out of it. They had NO plan whatsoever and the results of that show today. Best asset the team had in 20 years is gone for former 3rd, 5th picks and a extremely low first rounder.
King and the idiots holding the cards should be ashamed of themselves. This team is done and irrelevant for several years now. Thanks.

Also.....
I am not even sure if Jay Feaster is truly running Hockey Ops. John Weisbrod probably had more to do with today's deal than Feaster.
There are a lot of finger prints on this deal. Not just Feaster.

Cannot under state this, the Flames should have had 2 cups out of an Iginla and Kipper in their prime.

Yeah all these NCAA players as of late, and Weisbrod being a former or current collegiate scout

Their moment was 2009. They don't make the Joker trade, I think they make a run to the conference finals. Maybe they don't beat Chicago, but they don't start the death spiral the next year.

Let's not forget the players. If this team is in a playoff spot these discussions aren't even happening. The team brought in some decent players in the offseason and the players could never get it together and that includes Iginla and Kipper for whatever reason. Maybe it was the short training camp with a new coach or too much of a change in style of play but the players on the ice had a say in this happening and they weren't good enough which led us to today.

You can't win without top end center depth.
The Flames have never addressed this issue....and so, we are where we are.

Feaster et. al are playing by the Kevin Lowe school of wheeling and dealing. So expect the same results.

They did try; Jokinen was the move. When it became apparent that wasn't going to get it done, they should've moved on from this core.

The Flames never, and still havn't imo, adapted to the changes to the league, the need to draft and develop.
Everything else flowed out of this, you have a proper scouting and development staff you don't take the kid your brother coached as you don't really trust your process you take any one of the great centers in that draft.

no question Weisbrod are his eyes and Ears which is why we are seeing an influx of NCAA and USHL drafting ect.
$ to donuts Seth is who they desire in the draft.

Not to mention Iginla's list. I can't blame Feaster without knowing exactly what the other offers were and how much Iginla was pulling the strings.
Plenty of other stuff to blame him for though.

That's fair. I will wait to see what else transpires before the deadline before I wish we got Burke in to pull the triggers.

Everything you said is so true and if I wasn't so sad I'd be fuming mad over all of this.
Jarome did EVERYTHING in his power to drag the Flames kicking and screaming every year to be competitive. It is a travesty that it has come to this. Management should be ashamed of themselves. Iggy should have been our Sakic, our Yzerman who retired in the same silks that he played game #1 for. The fact that is has come to this is something I will never forgive (unless those prospects or pick become an elite player). I'm just so sad now, I don't have it in me to be angry.
