Yes to a one year deal just so we can only trade him again.

Only for alumni games.

Pretty tough to go back, especially with his move signalling a full-on rebuild, which he obviously wants no part of (understandably so).

His Family is close by, he has a brand new custom built $6M home. His wife loves Calgary and has many friends and a great support structure here. The Flames honored his wishes by letting him dictatw where he goes for his cup run. He has the choice of signing anywhere he would like in thr offseason. Many top teams will already have tough cap decisions in the offseason. Adding a 35 yo Jarome Iginla @ $5M+ will be hard for top teams in the league including the Pens.

All things point to him being back in Sept. IMO.

The return reflects my opinon. I think Pitts know hes coming back to YYC after this run.

I have two trains of thought.

Iggy lights it up in Pittsburg, and becomes Gary Roberts 2.0. That scary old man nobody F's with and hangs em up there.

Or he gets his cup early (this year) and feels he has accomplished what he needs too, and possibly comes home. I do think that if he went in, got the cup this year and bailed would cheapen the whole thing though. So I expect him to play a couple seasons at least with the Penguins, even if he has to take a big discount. Being on that roster is a chance of a lifetime. Look how well even Recchi did at 76 years old with the Pens. And Iggy is certainly better than Recchi.

Once he gets a Cup, I think everything changes though.

I think if he wins the cup in Pittsburg he might come back, but honestly wouldnt pay anything over 5 mil a season for his services, I'm sure he'd get more on the open market lol.

If he wins a cup this year I would bet money that he will sign in Calgary this off season

I don't really want him back next year.

I think this team needs to move past Jarome Iginla before they can think about bringing back Jarome Iginla. If he comes back it needs to be in a completely different role. A Vernon type of return... where we've moved onto the next guy, but it's a feel good story that closes the books in a fitting way.

I wouldn't want to see him back right away. Give the team time for a new leader to step up and take the reigns - tough to do with a guy like Iggy sitting in the room. I wouldn't mind seeing him retire here in a few years though.

Not next year... if he were there would have been no mention of his contract demands and Iginla isn't open to being a greybeard on a rebuilding team right now. In a few years with his career in it's full twilight stage and the team on the upswing where he can be a depth player... maybe.

Although looking at the list of free agents available this offseason I don't see what the Flames will spend the cap space on. I would be surprised if the Flames are a cap team next year unless they want to overpay on a batch of really middling talent. There are now zero impact talent skaters set to become UFA's, the top four were Getzlaf, Perry, Semin, and Iginla none of which are options for us now.

Out of "thanks."

The whole family and house thing seems to make sense. If all of that weighs in, I think he could be back.

...hopefully.

Emotionally, how awesome would it be for him to return here to retire.

But this organization needed to turn the page. Badly. This is as symbolic of a page turn as there is.

I'm gonna miss that guy for sure.

For some reason It almost feels like the Olympic years when I was excited to see him perform with great players on the big stage.

With all the twists and turns of this season, I think this may not even set in with me until next training camp

Only way Iggy comes back is if around his final year(s) the Flames are in position to be a contender. If that occurs within 4 years and he's still playing, then there's a chance since it'll cap off his legacy.

No chance of him coming back as a player

Small chance of him ever working for this franchise again.

This is a Kramer vs Kramer style divorce and us fans just got paddled for trying to get the ice cream out of the freezer.

It will lead to nothing but heartbreak if you sit by the window with a candle to guide Iggy home.

I want to see Iginla back in maybe 3-4 years when this rebuild is over, the Flames are hopefully together and putting together a cup win. An aging vet is added to help the young kids who are in their early 20's.

I just don't see it. My dream scenario is Calgary has a 3 year rebuild, they're back in playoff contention by the 3rd year, and in 5 years, they're contending for the Stanley Cup. They bring Iginla back for one more season, and he goes out winning a cup with the Flames before retiring, and his jersey is hung in the rafters. Unlikely scenario? Probably, but him re-signing with the Flames this offseason is just as unlikely IMO.

I think he pulls a Tkachuk. Grabs us a first round pick. Goes to Pittsburgh and sabotages their team into missing the playoffs so their pick is top ten. Then comes back in the off-season. The first from Pittsburgh ends up winning the draft lottery and becomes a first. And the Flames hold the third overall pick. It's so AMAZING!! WOOOOOO!!!

Hey, I can dream!
