Until Sept. Or earlier when Jarome signs a new contract with any team, i will reserve judgement. If Jarome is a flame come Sept. Or earlier, this was a solid trade that satisfies all parties.

Pens fans should be laughing. Part happiness and part a laughter of derision. Flames/Feaster are going to get compared to the Oilers/Lowe on this move. Fire out whatever lame excuses you want the results speak for themselves.
We have not only become the Oilers / we have sunk even lower.

The Pens didn't have to pay full value because they were dealing for a player with a NMC who picked them.

When Feaster was brought in there were a few jokes about Feaster or famine. Looks like they were wrong. It's Feaster AND famine.
Only time will tell if Iggy forced Feaster's hand on this trade but it definitely does not look good at all right now.

That's true.
While Iginla didn't totally Sundin us, he wasn't that accommodating either. I am not saying that it wasn't his right, but add a couple more teams to the mix, and it would have been a different story.
I just hate that he is going to one of the most smug franchises and fanbases in the NHL.

I don't. If there is any other team I wanted to see him on it's the Pens.

I know I don't represent CP in anyway, but I hope my post (on LetsGoPens.com) somewhat represented what some of you feel.

At some point Shero probably figured that the final decision was still up to Iggy. So Shero went out and got Murray.. morrow to make it even more appealing to Iggy that the Pens had the best chance to win the cup.

Information that should never have been made known to the Pens. The only thing they should know or should have ever known is that Iginla was one of the teams on the list.

Agreed but how do you control that? Most leaks come from agents - is it the agent that lets the media know how big the list is and who is on it?
It would be fascinating to see how last night played out.
Did the Flames and Boston agree in principal to a deal only to have Iginla decide Pitt was his destination of choice?
At some point in the evening did the list go from 4 teams to 2 to 1?

If I were a Pens fan, I'd be ecstatic. They got one of the best players in the laague at a fire (Feaster) sale price.

If Meehan is leaking information to the Pens about his client's preferences and directly undermines a GM, that is a serious breach of ethics. I would also assume that it is punishable by the league.
Yes, I think more information needs to come out in the wash, but, for a GM to get a player like Iginla for what he got... It is pretty unprecedented.

If true, Feaster stumbled or Iggy changed his mind after Pitts added to their team. I feel like we could have got Morrow and 1st if we traded him a bit earlier.
Boston is pissed and I have to say I agree with them. Someone dropped the ball.
I think Shero thought he was out of it and put in a lowball offer and Iginla said he would only waive for Pitts.

I can't find a single post from a Pens fan on that forum that thinks the price was right or fair for the Flames. We're a laughing stock to them.

Man, that sounds like Patrick trying to justify the Jagr deal.

Yeah in a rare moment I'm going to completely agree with Jiri. If Jarome's NMC essentually amounted to "let me pick where I go" then Feaster had minimal leverage. I think we should also give Agostino & Hanowski a shot to show something before dismissing them as garbage. Sure they don't look like much (3rd line guys really) but let's at least give them a chance before ####ting all over them.
As far as Boston goes... serves them right for trying to negotiate through the media and for leaking like a sieve.

The thing is, I don't think Iginla's value was that high.
He's a pure rental. 2 years ago, he would've gotten some great prospects. Not today.
Frankly, I'm happier with the return for Iginla than I was with Phaneuf's return. I feel that with the contract situation and context of the trade, we got market value for Iggy.
