With respect to the first paragraph: no, don't try and pass your assumptions off as truth. I feel that this shouldn't be the group restructuring the team. They should have been let go a couple of weeks ago at the latest and that is plenty of time for a new group of professionals to take over and do a good job. They are professionals after all and it's not as though whoever came in wasn't following hockey; they would know what to do. At best I hope it is changed early in the off-season but if ownership is allowing this current group to make these changes know, it's a safe bet they will be the group restructuring in the off-season as well.
With respect to the second paragraph: yes, I am fully aware of that and it doesn't change my opinion.
I really don't care how you feel about the situation but I respect how you feel, so kindly respect how I feel.

With the paradigm shift starting with moving Iggy out, other pieces will move out and with any luck we'll be able to pick up some other 1st rounders elsewhere (higher ones too). The Iginla package doesn't look impressive based on what the Flames got back from the Pens. Sure. But the shift into a new direction means the Flames are free to move any asset for future value. That's a positive for me. And I might live to see Jarome hoist the cup. It's a win.

Seemed weird driving in to town this morning.
Like a subdued atmosphere has engulfed the city.

- Lots of talk about the two kids not being amongst the Pens’ top 10 prospects. Even if true, they probably rank in the five-ish area for Calgary. Friedman had a good point as well that once you move past the elite prospects, it is really hard to rank everyone else.
- I don’t know much about the two kids, but as noted last night, both are known for high hockey IQ – which is what Weisbrod seems to focus on
- The Flames seem to have done a good job with the college kids they have drafted – so hopefully they have good reads on these guys
I’m thrilled the organization is moving on. The return is not great, but expected, and the price they pay for not having the sack to do it sooner.
Hearing Pete break up on the Fan this morning, probably was the first time the emotional part of this hit home for me.

This post is like putting lipstick on a pig. You can keep telling yourself that what we got was good, but it doesn't mean its true.

Brilliant. I haven't been around these parts for a long time, but this is funny shinguard.
So anyone know who asked for trade? Feaster or Iggy? Feaster says its him, but he could be taking a bullet for someone else.

Pretty much. He said that the Flames are looking to stockpile assets. I assume that means a few more PhD's and Phi Beta Kapas are coming our way.

A part of me is happy he went to the Pens cause I didn't like how the Bruins lowballed the Flames here and yes I value tht first more than koklachev, who is small, not like Tarasenko, and still has the khl flight risk.

I would also like to see Jarome win a cup, just not this year. My hope now is that Pittsburgh falters terribly and the pick the Flames received is closer to 20 than it is to 30.

That, IMO is a reason why I want to see Feaster AND the rest of Flames' management hang.
It was obvious this was a horrible team, and the Flames sat on it, and now will be full scorched earth since they will not be getting value for their assets.
This Management team (King included) should be proud, they have completed what looked to be the impossible - they have become a bigger joke than the K-Lown show in Edmonton.
Way to go King & Feaster, you cowardly morons.

Got to include ownership with this as well.

The funny thing is that nowhere in the post did I say "what we got is good".
One needs to look at the context of the situation to understand why the return was what it was.
The organization is paying for past mistakes - namely not doing this sooner.

Iggy chose playing with Crosby and a very very good chance of winning the cup, over Boston, and we got what we got. That's what we get for wanting him gone.

this is what ticks me off the most about our management. they stick their heads in the sand and refuse to see that the Flames are a bad hockey team in desperate need of real change for the past 3-4 years. they only finally accept this fact when the Flames are hovering around dead last in the league and they can't ignore the truth any longer. and now the returns coming back are nowhere near what could have been if someone had the balls to start the rebuild with some foresight instead of being forced into it

I've been one of the people thinking we had to trade Iggy for a while. But you wake up this morning and something just doesn't feel right.
Feels like your heart got ripped out (and i was never his biggest fan).

The latest bumbling blunder set in motion years before having to reap the consequences.
I am surprised/happy they ended up getting a first when all was said and done.

Absolutely - and this deal probably hammers home that frustration for most fans.
But hopefully it is now the start of a different approach.
