The kid from Boston was "maybe" at worst a 2nd line player now?
Holy moly, people flip so easily.

Exactly!!! What was Iggy supose to say or do? Umm..Jay i think you can do better than that from Pitt.
I think we would have been better off letting Iggy negotiate the entire trade. He probably could have gotten a better return.

And Feaster can only present what the other teams offered. You can't strongarm other teams into giving more than they want. I'm sure all the teams had a chance to up their offers after the Flames considered the initial offers.
The Flames braintrust (not just Feaster) presented Iginla with three offers on the table. Iginla picked the Penguins. We have a pretty good idea of Boston's offer. I'm not sure if the other offer was from the Hawks or Kings. Once you're in a position where the player picks the city, it's out of your hands. For all we know, the Kings offered the best deal of all.

You think if Pittsburgh offered up only second round pick, that the flames would have had that deal as viable?

Two reactions, not sure which is the strongest right now.
1. Superhappy for Iginla, go get a cup! Will be cheering for PIT this spring. For a true success story Iggy comes back in 3 years to win a cup with CGY.
2. Feaster - what are you doing? That is a horrible return! Jarome Frickin' Iginla for Who and Who and a possible 30th overall pick??!!
I am sincerely starting to doubt Weisbrod in this, isn't he supposed to be the hockey mind. Why have we then been fleeced in every single trade since he came in (ok, not entirely true).

I'm as big of a fan of Iginal as most on here, but I hope the Penguins lose out in the first round of the playoffs this year. Iggy can win his cup somewhere next year.

RE: Aaron Ward
I'm usually the one defending media types around here, but I can't do it tonight. Pretty bad blunder. I do think that his sources thought it was a done deal, but he could have done a better job of saying that's what he was hearing or his sources were telling him. He made it sound so matter of fact like when reporting during the intermission. It was poor on his part, no doubt.

oh my god ... it got worse? there will be a day that i will be pissed as hell about getting eff all for Iginla, just like Regehr and Phaneuf.
But for now, I'm happy for Iginla. He gets to play with one of the best centers in NHL history and gets his shot for a cup. He deserves it. Best of luck, Jarome.

I never flipped. I had already stated that the Russian kid ( can't spell his name) had talent and was a good pick up by the flames.

If Feaster thought one deal was obviously worse then the other two he would have told Jarome that he couldn't work out a deal with that team but he has a deal in place for these two.
He probably went in with three equal deals and let Jarome then pick the destination (not the deals, slight but major difference).

I'm actually happy with the trade. Hankowski looks like a player, and I don't really know about the other kid, but we now have 2 1st rounders. That's pretty plump in my books.

So are the flames at 50 contracts?
Were at 49 - Iggy + 2 = 50/Capjail?

Well, we were warned that the return for Iggy might be disappointing.
Feaster coming on and saying Jarome has been traded to Pittsburgh I thought it was a mistake. When he said it again, and announced what the return is, it was truly baffling.
What a crazy night. Why is it that the Flames seem to get involved in these bizarre breakings of trades?

Watching TSN and seeing lots of footage of Feaster in the press box tonight. Can't believe the guy from Corner Gas was up there wearing the old school headphones.
