IF Feaster is fired, what do you think the odds are the new GM would want his hand picked choice for head coach?

Most new GMs give the old coach a shot for a year or so, half a year minimum. That said you'd have to question if Hartley would stay given how chummy he is with Feaster.

Pretty high unless they like what they see in Hartley.

Pretty high as well. They may give a bit more say in the matter to Hartley though given the year or so on the job...but him and Feaster are close and that's a big reason Hartley's here...over chooisng MTL (if that was a legit option for Hartley), for example.

I don't see a downside. If a house cleaning occurs and the Flames end up at the bottom of the standings for a couple of years, a forced rebuild occurs. If the new people bring a fresh direction to the team and we trend upwards and make the playoffs, a good start. If things stay the same, well that would suck but still not worse than what we have now.

Hyperbole dial turned up to 11. No one is expecting our GMs to be without fault, much less infallible. But remember the deals Darryl made before he got fired? And now this fiasco, you must hold people to a very low standard.

I highly doubt Hartley would leave if the new GM wants him to stay. For one thing, it's pretty rare for a coach that is under contract to step down because of a GM change. Besides, if this team missing the playoffs, I think Hartley's chances of landing another NHL job in the near future would be pretty slim. Hartley can't be sure he can land another NHL job any time soon if ever.

Its a sad day when you're team is being blown up by likely the worst GM in the sport.

This guy almost gave our 1st and 3rd rounders away for nothing, and may as well have just done it with Iginla.
No more. No more nonsense. Is there a fan base less confident in their management than Flames fans?
How is this acceptable?

Honestly I think we should wait to see the official trade, before we start firing people and demolishing the Saddledome.

Anyone who thinks this deal (whatever it ends up being) wasn't approved by Weisbrod, King, and Edwards is just looking for a scapegoat.

Can we fire Murray Edwards?
Ooops, no he is an owner.
Murray Edwards picked an GM that would be willing to be his puppet.
Any smart hockey man out there would never agree to such a scenario and as such, we ended up with Jay Feaster
