If we had a 24th and 28th pick, where do you think that could get us if we package them to move up? Around 18? Higher?

Detroit was talked about in regards to Bouwmeester on TSN. Somewhat related to the Iginla trade, saying that if He's willing to go the fire sale could be on.

I've been on the trade Iginla ship for the past 2 years, yet my heart is pounding and I have butterflies. I just pray the trade happens tonight so I can drink my night away.
Iggy is the single reason why I started following hockey and later becoming a Flames fan.
Going to miss the guy.

Just saw the TSN panel, Boston would not confirm the deal. It would make sense to float this out in advance and see if any other team can top it, no way they make the deal without going back to the other teams to see if they can match.

Yep, in a deep draft year that would be amazing. We could even end up with 4 if we really wanted to trade Gio.

The advantage is having Jarome Iginla signed up for another year or two, that's simple.
The part is maybe it's Iginla who wants a contract in place before he agrees to waive his no-trade.

I think anyone who makes a fat joke from here on should be auto-banned.

Um, maybe in terms of character off the ice, but did you watch Fleury in his prime?

Kinda reminds me of the 2003 draft where the Ducks pulled off an absolute coup even though they only picked 19th and 28th. It can be done! If the Flames get three firsts and they pick smartly, this team could potentially be back in the playoffs before too long. However, it's a big "if".

Theo at the time he left Calgary was at least as good as Iggy is now

I think Theo played with more passion and fire, Iggy a better shot and a better teammate.

Who cares about fat jokes, they're lame but not worth getting up in arms about or even editing. What's next, busting out the banhammer when someone calls Ricci ugly?

Too bad Fleury didn't bring that same passion to off-ice training. Iggy has him beat there easily.

So if it is true that no trade is done (and its not just a delay).. you can see how these rumours grow -
McKenzie - reports that Iginla is scratched
Some Providence reporter says there's a late lineup switch and Koko is scratched
McKenize passes on that news and states that Bartkowski was expected to play tonight for the Bruins but is not.
Every b-rate twitter hockey insider decides the trade is Iginla for Koko/Bartowski and adds a 1st round pick to make it sounds sensible.

As someone who is fat, it basically comes off as, "Look at him! He's a useless human being because he is overweight! Now let us all laugh!"
