I remember being in Atom and my hockey team was able to play during the intermission during the flames hawks game, I think it was 2002-03 season and when we were waiting to go out on the ice and the flames were just coming off and I just remember iggy had this huge classic iggy smile on his face as he came by and tapped a few of us on the shin pads telling us the have fun out there. We were all so happy to see him, it was awesome.
Tough to put into words....there are so many amazing moments on the ice. Many of them have already been highlighted.
However, a personal experience with Iginla will always be my favorite memory. I was doing a job shadow in 2008 and Iginla was the first professional athlete I ever interviewed. I was visibly nervous. He asked if I was new, introduced himself to me and stayed behind to find out about my education and what goals I had for the future. About 30 minutes later, I was packing up my gear and he handed me an autographed picture. He wished me luck in my career. Anytime I have run into him since then, he always stops to chat and just asks how things are going. Pure class. Not seeing his name and number in a dressing room stall...it seems almost surreal.
I have tears typing this....a lot of raw emotion tonight. My head knows this is the right decision, but my heart doesn't. Thank you for everything, Jarome and good luck.

as much as this move has been anticipated this is a sad day! Thank you Iggy for 16 great years, I hope that you get the cup you deserve! I hope that we get back what we as fans of this team deserve from a player of your quality.
Spent way more than I could afford for a once in a lifetime trip to Calgary from Ontario couple years ago. Flight, great seats to 4 Flame games in a 1 week span, 7 night stay in downtown Calgary hotel, meals, some sight seeing. Expensive. Why did I do it? To see Iginla play. Week was worth every penny.
Location: A simple man leading a complicated life....

I ran out of thanks when I got to your post. To find out that Iginla took time to know you as a person speaks volumes to me as to the person he is. No ego no nothing, just a down to earth person. I suspect there are more stories like yours out there.
Without Iginla there is no 2004. Without 2004 I wouldn't have started watching hockey. Iginla has been Flames hockey for the past decade and it has been a pleasure to watch this man play.
