Well, I value Koko and the 1st higher than Morrow.

Not all 1sts are created equal. An early 1st is degrees more valuable an asset than a late one. I won't say this 1st is low quality, but it's certainly not high.

I don't see the point in using a contract space on Bartkowski... a nearly 25 year old *potential* bottom pairing D. Those aren't exactly difficult to come by.

Why do people keep saying this? Do you even watch hockey??? If you think Morrow got a better return you know jack crap about hockey.

I am just glad the trade is done and the Flames can get serious about a rebuild. No homerun on the return but only time will tell how good/bad Boston's prospects are. Now to unload a few more contracts for picks and get into the lottery for this year.
At least I have a team I can cheer for in the playoffs this year.

The Flames have to knock this draft out of the park. I'm hoping they get one more first out of this somehow.

With the dismal season so far, I'm looking forward to possibly having two first round picks for the first time ever.

People overvalue Sutter's contributions as GM post-2006. Much of the current Flames mess has his fingerprints all over it.

Not keen on Bartowski but Kholchachov is intriguing.
Not the best return I was hoping for but not a disaster.

Imo backlund is a good 2nd C in a year.

I will say this... from watching them in the OHL I think Koko was a better player at that level than Spooner. Spooner's just had an extra year in the minors to to develop a bit.

Why are people freaking out on a rumour return! Personally I am going to wait until this is all official.

The first rounder is good too.
I would have liked another piece like the Russian though, another kid that aged with either top 6 or top four potential.
|
The Russian kid is small, soft and a flight risk to the KHL.

It's almost dreamlike hearing that Iggy is probably gone...
Looking at the trade though, it's underwhelming but for a month of Iggy without taking on future contract considerations, it's not bad.
Can't help but to wish just for a little more. It's a little insulting to Iggy as a player to be moved for so many lower quality pieces...

I agree Morrow is worth a 1st round pick but probably in the middle of the round rather than the 26-30 where Boston's pick will end up being.
Maybe you're right. Ugh...they waited too long.

The only explanation I can think of is, Brenden had a larger number of teams he could be dealt to. Either that, or some of us (me included) are overrating Joe Morrow.
