Down Goes Brown@DownGoesBrown1min
PK Subban makes it 2-0, going upstairs while Tuukka Rask is frantically refreshing Twitter for an Iginla update. #tsn

If the deal sucks it makes no sense as there is still time before the deadline to wait it out. has to have a couple decent pieces to it.
When I see all these 2/3 line players getting 1st rounders as rentals each year, Iginla has to be worth 2-3x that kinda cost.

Be sure to include his arm swooping celebration after a breakaway goal vs the Sharks in 2004.

Part of me wishes this happened like the Phaneuf trade. I just wake up the next morning and BAM trade. Over like that. Band-aid ripped right off.
It's going to be a loooooong night now.

Regardless of if you wanted or didn't want this.
I would be kinda cool if they find time tonight to give Jarome a standing Ovation.
Hell get him to drop a ceremonial puck.

Kolanos would fit as a contract to move to stay under the limit.

Here's an interesting theory from Richard Cloutier (Hockeybuzz EDM blogger):
It sounds like the Calgary Flames have a deal in place to move Jarome Iginla to Boston. It is believed the Bruins will give up a 1st round pick and two prospects in the deal.
Hold your breath folks...there is an Oilers angle to this.
The Oilers will be dealing defenseman Ryan Whitney, Magnus Paajarvi, and a third asset (Anton Lander perhaps) to the Boston Bruins for Milan Lucic. Then Paajarvi will be shifted to the Flames as part of the Iginla deal.
What is holding up the deal is Danny DeKeyser. The Oilers are waiting for DeKeyser to verify that he's joining the Oilers. Once this occurs, the entire situation will unfold.

I am going to be thinking this a lot in the next while:
As Dr. Suess said, don't be sad that Iggy is gone, be happy that he was ours.

Isn't he scratched every once in a while due to veteran player limit?

You can only play so many veterans a night in the AHL. Kolanos is a healthy scratch all the time.

Became a die hard fan in 2004 when I watched Iggy and Kipper take this team to the finals. It's going to be very bittersweet when my favourite player of all time laces them up in a uniform other than the Flames. Go get that cup Iggy. Where ever he goes, Im officially a fan for the rest of the season

If Iginla is scratched because he's been traded to the Bruins, I wonder what the chances of this trade being announced right before the start of the Flames game.
Probably not, but you never know.
