I hope he does announce his retirement after the deadline and not in the offseason.
He deserves to be honored by the fans during his last home game.
And the Fans deserve to give him a final send off.

Yeah fair enough. I'm sure I badmouthed Tim Thomas when he quit. It probably had something to do with him being such a wingnut and I don't like him, but it's a valid point.
I'm a Flames fan and so I'd like the Flames to "get" something for Kiprusoff, but I just can't blame the guy for wanting to stay with his family and lose his paycheck for the privelege.
Now, if he came out and said "I'm quitting to prepare for the apocalypse", I'd probably have a different opinion.
EDIT: well shoot, Transplant99 has a good point too. I can't really remember the whole situation with Thomas, other than that he's nuts.

Couldn't agree more. Kypreos has sometimes shown that he needs to be the story-breaker, the guy with the inside scoop. I think it's quite likely his "source" expressed and opinion and Kypreos went with it.
Forget that this is about the Flames for a minute. It's just sad that so many people hear something negative about another person and assume the worst. If I ever go on trial for murder I sure hope they're not on my jury.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I heard it on the TV so it's obviously public news... The birth of his son came with complications, so Kipper likely does not want to be moved at this delicate point in his life - and it is expected he will retire at the end of this season, FWIW.
The Flames have known this since before the birth (issue was known before birth) and thus have not been entertaining Kipper trade offers

No. You are causing a stir.
And yes, I don't like unconfirmed ANYTHING if it results in 20+ pages of crap, even if it's about the Canucks.
Can I take you up on offer to another poster where you'd submit PMs regarding posts you're thinking of making? I think it's a good idea.

Kipper should do the following:
1) Agree to report to any team
2) Take a family trip to that city
3) First practice, fake an injury
4) Retire and come back to Calgary
5) The Flames will continue to let Kippers family tag along for different types of virus shots that are offered to teams before the general public.

Kypreos was purely speculating on the "complications" during the birth of his son. And I honestly find that offensive that a sports hack would bring up a non athletes medical speculation. Feminine hygene bag move bringing up that crap on national T.V.
Even if it was true why the heck would you make it the worlds business. Disrespectful clown Kypreos is.

You realize how common birth complications are?
All he is speculating is that his baby is a little sick and needs medical assistance. He didn't say the kid had AIDS or cancer.

Well, being the man with the scoop is extremely important this time of the season. It's a competition. His name got out there, it was repeated on nhl.com, he got to explain the big news on television - now he can say he didn't just follow other people's twitter accounts during the deadline.

I don't care, it's not his place to say, keep to the hockey rumours. That is my opinion and you are more than welcome to disagree, I won't argue anymore on it.

Wtf is wrong with the local media. Haven't got so much as a sentence from Feaster in weeks and can't even manage to get a quote from Kipper for confirm or deny.
At least Sportak and Johnson are calling the play on the ice for what it is I guess. Still at a time like this getting something from Kipper is pretty much the most important part of their job.

Had an idea!

The reasons for wanting to throw Kipper under the bus are entirely about the fact that by refusing to be traded he doesn't let the Flames acquire assets to build for the future.
Except, trading Kipper wouldn't net you much more than a few draft picks, and his reasons for NOT wanting to be traded are sincere. He has a family to consider, a newborn, and the possibility of retiring in the next year or so anyways.
I would say the reasons for fans on here wanting to throw him under the bus are a lot more selfish than Kipper's reasons for NOT wanting to be traded.

False outrage is false.
I don't see any angry mob.
If kipper won't accept a trade to certain teams and has a less official 'list', great.
If he wants to put up a couple more unbelievable performances in a flames sweater before heading back home, great.
He'd look great on Chicago.

The way the Finnish reporter (Jouni Nieminen) tweeted it earlier was that the team is absolutely not trying to trade Kipper and even if they were he wouldn't go to the new team. That kind of sounds like there are circumstances that make moving him out of the question entirely. I wonder if Kypreos tracked down his source or figured out some of the reasons why a trade is impossible but not the entire story.
In any case, the rumor is only as good as the source is, and we don't know where the information comes from.

One of Kipper or Iginla has to go. Through I think the obvious is probably Iginla, this team is nothing without Kip in net.
