Grit for the bottom lines. With Kesler and Kassian out, he's a very cheap option to provide some toughness / defensive abilities. Plus, he's also a known playoff warrior and can provide senior leadership to a team full of crybabys.

So you think it's an unreasonable scenario that Feaster does the exact same stupid thing he's done the past two trade deadlines under very similar circumstances?
If the Flames somehow get past the Blackhawks, they have a run of Avs/Jackets/Oilers before the trade deadline. Win a couple of those and I'd be shocked to see the Flames management admit defeat on this season.

Nice. Sneak Dave Lowry's kid into the Flames fold.
Actually a nice prospect though, big, nice junior numbers.

Not a chance the pens give up both despres and Bennett. I'd say Tyler Kennedy or Tanner Glass, but ZERO chance they give up there top two D prospects.

Especially when Feaster has said, repeatedly, that this is what he plans to do.
He has said that he would rather re-sign Iginla than trade him, that if the team rebuilds they can find someone else to do it, etc.
CP is making like its a foregone conclusion that he's going to blow it up, when he has said that he doesn't want to blow it up, and didn't blow it up in the past when he had the chance.

It will either be Jackman for a 7th
or this, but not both;
Iginla + Butler/Smith + Comeau/Cervenka to PIT Bennett + 1st + Bortuzzo
(Murray will keep Bortuzzo out of the line-up, so they could get someone with more experiance to sit in the press box. A winger with some offensive flare to round out their top 9. I just suspect the Flames are really looking for a NHL Rookie or Sophmore who is looking good, and it will have to turn into a bigger deal like this).
Cammaleri + 3rd to TOR Abbott + 1st
(Not trading Futures My A$$, Its looking really good for them to Play Mtl or Wpg in round one. They must have stars in their eyes).
Stempniak to Chi for 2nd
(After Iggy is traded, Feaster will the get the call, "Still want to add a top 9 winger, what about Stemps?").

Depth. They don't have a lot of guys in the minors they can call up. In long playoff runs you need warm bodies.
Plus he's been OK in his role.

Had nothing to do with the thread topic. Would have been nice to see a thread last atleast the first page without someone's whining and complaining taking it off topic.

I don't understand why Anton wouldn't bring something. He hasn't been given a chance.
2010 Flames 65 8 19 27 +18
2011 Flames 32 2 8 10 +2
2012 Flames 2 0 1 1 -2

Did you watch those 2 games that Anton played? He was horrid. If he had been with the Heat, Ward would have sent him to the press box.
I get that Anton was injured but don't forget he played 31 games in the KHL in the lockout. I think i remember that Anton had the worst +- in the KHL by a D-man at the time of his injury.

I think we'll see Iginla dealt and we'll be surprised to hear where he is going.
Maybe two or three other small trades to get rid of guys who don't get much ice time like Sarich, Babchuk and Begin.
It would be great to see a total makeover, but doing it all in one shot can be very dangerous. Trading away Iginla is big enough as is.

Keep in mind the pens will not take on contracts lasting more then this year. They will rent and rent inlu., even more so with Tanger and Geno free agents after next year. Oh and they are at 47 signed players right now as well....
