Didn't some Boston reporter want Calgary to include Gaudreau in the Iginla trade?
They are working favours for the Bruins.

Grant Pollock coming on the Fan this afternoon to explain his tweet from last night. Should be good for a laugh.

I am not saying, nor would you or I know, Feaster obtained this many contracts for that purpose. That is asinine. People are too eager to get their claws out these days.
My point was that the number of contracts the Flames are carrying prevents the return on the trade to be a bunch of 20 goal scorers, so there is no need to fantasize about that bleak scenario. Simple as that.

Talking on the fan that Feaster wants Subban in the deal... he mentioned the source but I missed it. Says Boston holding that they're not moving him.
Blah. Subban.

only if Toffoli would actually be in play. The kid is impressive. If there is no first round pick it has to be player of this calibre.

I would argue that Saad > Toffoli.
Hard to judge now but Taravienen from CHI and Bennett from PIT could also be better. It is hard to tell I suppose but I can't really say that Toffoli is better then those other guys.

Iginla is still the best forward on this team, so I don't see how re-signing him makes the team less competitive. It's not like the UFA market this year is brimming with players that are better than him, so we wouldn't be limiting ourselves in that sense either.

Based on the lack of interest by Iggy to sign with the Flames, I think that he's already looking forward to leaving this organization either by trade or free agency.
I think there's no interest by him in being a mentor during a rebuild with no hope

That's a fairly bold statement. How can you say he is the best forward on the team when he is 3rd or 4th for points, didnt score his first until after 10 or so games, and doesnt have a very good plus minus? This is with playing top line minutes too.
I'd say Tanguay and Glencross have been the most consistent Flames, with Hudler a close second.
Lets analyze the Flames rationally.

Spector was the source. He seems to be involved on this more than any other Sportsnet reporter

I don't think there's been any media mentioning Gaudreau recently. Chiarelli was rumoured to have been 'sniffing around' for Gaudreau in the off-season. Big favourite with the locals in Boston, but I believe Feaster told him he wasn't going to be moved.
If Boston are keen on Gaudreau I'd only include him to get one of Boston's blue chip youngsters, and I sure as hell wouldn't be looking for a goalie prospect.

Fine with me if Subban is in play...assuming that Kipper is being traded for futures and or prospects.

You neglect to say that Iginla is still the focal point of the other teams top defenders. Iggy is still the top forward on this team

Not thrilled to hear about Subban as the major piece being targeted. As others have said, goalies are risky at such a young age. The Flames will need an answer in net when Kipper leaves, but they also need answers everywhere else. At this point, I would be targeting a mid - top end center or dman prospect and worrying about goalies later once we have a better indication of the potentials of our current goalie prospects.

It might make sense since he is reportedly after Bernier in LA as well.
Kipper on the way out, Irving not playing up to snuff and Macdonald clearly not a starter. Puts the Flames in a tight spot for next year.. but Subban won't be ready for a while, that part I don't get .
I know you can never have too many prospects, but is Subban not at the same level of development as guys like Gillies and Brossoit? Or is he ready to step in soon?

This was the tweet out of Boston about Gaudreau:
@HackswithHaggs: If I'm Peter Chiarelli, I do whatever I can to get Calgary to throw BC's Johnny Gaudreau into Iginla deal. That kid can play #BruinsTalk
