Players don't give a #### about you so don't give a #### about them...that is my rule since the latest lockout
enjoy the game and the talent but at the end of the day they knock a puck around for millions of dollars...pretty hard to feel bad for them

There is a possiblity that Iggy just went to BOS to meet management and talk extension with the Flames permission as well. Day off and a short flight from CHI(compared to CGY).
Just spitballing. Big trades like this circumstances could allow it.

Crap. Glanced at it on my phone and my dyslexic brain turned it into Calgary at Colorado

Wouldn't something like that be done through his agent?

There is a better chance that if he's in Boston, Andy ference is showing him around beacon hill to look at town homes.

I agree there is no way that someone travelling with the team wouldn't know about this first. Eric Duhatschek, for instance, traveled with the Flames to Chicago and would be all over this right now.

Yes of course. But hasn't Iginla been pretty hands on in contract situations?
Like I said, just speculating.

Waiting for Martin Hudson to confirm via twitter, and then we'll have the substantiation we need.
This is the silly season of rumors and those hoping to get some cheap twitter follows.

Not that i believe for a second that he has been traded but i am pretty sure that before he left for Chicago that he informed his whole family that there was a small chance he would be traded and not back for a while. They are not blindsiding him, if he gave them a list.
If a deal comes in that the flames have to take they can't sit on it just so Iggy can come home and do a press conference.

I see what you're saying but that's extremely unlikely that he leaves the team unless a deal's complete. There would be no need to go personally to talk about an extension before a deal is done when that's what his agent is for.

I'm thinking this rumour turns out to be nothing.

Calm down...he's not being deployed to Afghanistan.

Moreover, if Iginla has already submitted a list of his favorite teams, that would partially imply that he is ready to waive or has already waived his NTC by formal agreement. I don't see why it is such a big deal. At this point it is just a matter of time until we hear the announcement.
This is a hockey trade and it is not meant to be pretty. It will be received as egregious by many but that's the way things roll over at this time of the season.

And if /when he's traded, he reports to his new team.

makes it sound like you think they'd hand him a phone and a van would pull up and tell him to get in like he had no choice in the matter.
|
I didn't mention anything about anyone being blindsided with a trade. Read it again. Slower this time, if need be.
If the team sealed the trade, and only gave Iginla the chance to make a phone call before hustling him out the door, that is what I would have a problem with. If for some reason Iginla didn't want to make a presser, or didn't want to make the flight back to Calgary for the night/day before going on to Boston (and still having time to make the game, even), then that's his prerogative. If, however, the team just refused him the choice. . . . Naw, not cool from where I sit.
I know it's the cool thing these last few days to sound all business-like and "keep calm and carry on" on CP over this impending trade, but it's alright to still have some type of emotional attachment to the player and the history of the player. Really. Maybe it is a business, and maybe Feaster is a cold-hearted #######, I don't know, but it's honestly okay for us as fans to want to see Iginla off with a little bit of the fanfare and/or departing dignity, even if it's not much. We're not part of the business, so it's not necessary we act like the businessmen in it.

LOL, nice. As soon as a player gets traded, the wife and kids are ushered out of their homes witness protection style, never to be seen again.

I don't need to read anything again.
3rd time now: on what planet would that situation happen?
The point is Iginla has to be involved in the process of the trade so the chances of that happening are nil.
So why feel the need to manufacture how you would feel about something that isn't going to happen?
How would you feel about if they told him he was traded and kicked him in the tool bag? How indignant would that be?
Same old drama.
