Good bye? He's not going to war in Iraq. A simple phone call would suffice.

No, you make the trade when the trade is there to make.

Haha, they're trading him, not murdering him.

The warm and fuzzys are great but the Flames are also running a business as well.

That would be so ridiculously disrespectful a thing for this franchise to do to Iginla, I wouldn't care what the return was, I would be so utterly pissed at this team's management I don't know what I'd do.

"You've set every major record this organization has, spent your entire career here, done everything for the community, took us to the Finals on your back. . . . You're traded. Here's a phone, call your kids. Your plane arrives in 30 minutes. See ya!"

I am guessing one of the local reporters who ride on the team plane and hang out at the team hotel today, would know if Iginla continued on from Chicago this afternoon and wasn't at the hotel.

Sure, he could sneak out and then sneak back this evening, but how Grant would get that scoop before anyone else in the world reeks of more then a visit to HF or some rumor from the infamous "tHefAnbloggEr!!" than the truth.

Unreal

First of all, he's got to waive his no movement clause, so it's not like they're blind siding him as he gets on a bus.

If they've been in talks with a team there's no doubt he's aware, and if a deal is reached, the trigger gets pulled regardless of where Jarome is at the time.

Whatever team potentially lands him will want him in their lineup asap.

Talk about over-dramatic.

Wouldn't Iginla have to sign off on the deal first? That means if he doesn't have a problem if that happens, why in the hell do you?

Read better, if you can.

Nothing wrong with trading him on the road. The idea that all they'd do is give the guy a phone call and then truck him off when the Bruins don't even play until the 27th would be pathetic, especially when lesser players have been traded in the past and missed their opening games.

No, Eklund's calgary source is probably calgarypuck.com or HFboards.

How do you know that he'd prefer the big pity party in calgary first?

Yeah they really disrespected him with all those millions of dollars they paid him.

The Flames are on the road all this week. If the deal is there they won't wait 5 days to make it

Iggy's contract clearly states he must be given a Chuck E Cheese's pizza party before the trade is completed.

I must say, all of this sympathy for Jarome's feelings is a little overblown. I'm sure they will handle it professionally. Let's not forget that he is a multi-millionaire professional himself. He knows the business he's in. He knows that once a deal is done things have to move quickly. There will be plenty of time for proper goodbyes in the off-season/when the Bruins play next in Calgary.

Calm down...he's not being deployed to Afghanistan.

What part are you missing?

He needs to be part of the process when and if a trade happens. There's no blindsiding happening here.

And if /when he's traded, he reports to his new team.

"You've set every major record this organization has, spent your entire career here, done everything for the community, took us to the Finals on your back. . . . You're traded. Here's a phone, call your kids. Your plane arrives in 30 minutes. See ya!"

makes it sound like you think they'd hand him a phone and a van would pull up and tell him to get in like he had no choice in the matter.
