Nice that they're putting up a fight. Highlights: http://www.ruutu.fi/ohjelmat/sm-liig...appara-2532013
Thanks for the update. I assume that HIFK was in red? It was hard to tell until the very end since I do not speak Finnish.

BTW, what's with the gold helmets? Are those guys the captain or something? And those ref uniforms are something else...

Yes, HIFK in red. Granlund is #11. Judging by the jerseys thought I was watching rally cars for a second there.

Gold helmets, I think, are worn by the leading scorer of each team. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Haha ville neminen is leading scorer for Tappara? Or some other neminen.. he was getting roughed up pretty good.

Seemed like a good playoff game, HIFK looked to try to grind one out and seemed physical. Do finnish playoffs games usually get heated? Looked like ortio wanted to fight someone at the end.

I thought Barkov had the gold helmet.

Nemo has played with Barkov all season long but he played a few more games. Nieminen had 50 points and Barkov 48.

Nemo has had an amazing comeback season. He's probably playing his best hockey since leaving Calgary. Not only playing with Barkov but also training with him since the summer has really given him a new life. He's been acting as Barkov's personal trainer, along with another young player, and got into training again last summer because he was working with the youngsters.

Maybe he can teach Barkov some of his villainies.

Why did you have to go and show that Niemmenen vid?

Just infuriates me more that this current team lets all of those little bumps on Kipper go every game with no retaliation whatsoever. This team desperately needs a Regehr and Warrener to clear the front of the net badly! I'm looking at you Sieloff...

He's a rat, but he'd get to play Vancouver 6 times a year.

Culkin picked up another 2 assists tonight. 5 points through 3 games.

Brossoit stopped 24 of 25 shots, maintaining a .962SV% through 3 games.

Elson picked up 2 goals. He has 5 points through 3 games.

Pretty unreal that the Blades are probably going to be swept by the Tigers of all teams.

Can't really believe this either...Series isn't over, but talk about having a lot of time off. Ferland better stay in shape.

That's the difference Valk and Shinkaruk can make over a series.

our prospects stepping up when the games matter. I like that.

Edmonton sure dominates that series, winning 9-0 and 7-1 ... they somehow lost the 2nd game 2-1 in OT, but outshot them 48 to 26.

LW Turner Elson (Red Deer/WHL): 3 GP, 2 G + 3 A = 5 P, +3, 2 PIM
LW Coda Gordon (Swift Current/WHL): 4 GP, 1 G + 2 A = 3 P, +0, 4 PIM
LW Michael Ferland (Saskatoon/WHL): 3 GP, 0 G + 0 A = 0 P, -2, 2 PIM
D Ryan Culkin (Quebec/QMJHL): 3 GP, 1 G + 4 A = 5 P, +1, 0 PIM
D Tyler Wotherspoon (Portland/WHL): 2 GP, 0 G + 0 A = 0 P, -2, 4 PIM
G Laurent Brossoit (Edmonton/WHL): 3 GP, 2-0-1, 0.92 GAA, .962% saves, 1 SO

Disappointing that the Blades are so bad ... Swift Current is also one game away from being eliminated, so Gordon could go to Abbotsford pretty soon. He'd surely benefit from the experience, even if we didn't play.

From everything I've seen in the Blades documentary thing, Molleken is an awful coach.

I realize as well that he's trying to build a special team for the Memorial Cup, but he's handicapped his team for the next 3 years. They will probably be the worst team in the CHL next year.

Oh man, this makes me want the Flames to draft Barkov so much. Nieminen by proxy!
