If they add Iginla and remove Bolland, you would think that Sharp is moving back to C

Jensens decent, but probably the only prospect of theirs i'd be interested in

Bolland would be a great addition if we were contending... (As in, keeping Iggy)

Yes... "good" ... not blue chipper.

Likely wouldn't be a rental... bet Iginla re-signs. Could be, say, Iginla+conditional choice prospect (including Sven) based on whether they re-sign.
The Fleury deal had a choice prospect (Regehr/Tanguay/etc) which is quite close to this situation, except Iginla is better. Boston screwed up the Bourque trade. Marian Hossa, well depends how you viewed Angelo Esposito. A few deals here and there (Tkachuk, Blake, etc) but Iginla is better then all of them... the difference is historically, its star player for package of good prospects... and a lot of times it doesn't work out. This has to be something different, it has to be star player package for blue chipper. Never done before, but it can be argued that nobody of Iginla's ilk has been a rental before (other then Ray Bourque?). That Iginla+ could be Tyler Withorspoon, or Sieloff, or Ramage, or even a 1st round pick (not this year)... but we badly need a blue chipper.

I saw some Chicago writers saying they didn't think Iginla would crack their top 6
but if it gets rid of Bolland I am all for it
Iginla is unquestionably the better player but Bolland just has an effect on the Canucks
don't see how a guy like him helps Calgary rebuild though, he needs to be on a contender to be at his peak value, otherwise he's an average 2nd line center

It could also be that he has not "given them a list" as such, rather than just had a talk with Feaster about it, and certain specific teams being in the discussion as potential destinations.
Not exactly the same thing, but not that different either.

I think Bolland would be a really excellent pickup and would address current and future needs. Wanted him badly back in 04 but Sutter opted for Chucko instead.

Further evidence of how little most of the media actually knows about hockey. Just a bunch of glorified cheerleaders.

which is why I said the Flames can have all of them
Jensen is the only one who is close to contributing that isn't all ready in the NHL, he looks like he could be pretty good

Looking at the Hawks lines tonight, how could Iginla possibly bump the likes of Saad, Frolik and Hayes?
No Hossa/Sharp tonight but the thought that Jarome Iginla couldn't crack their top 6 is ridiculous.

I have no problem with Iggy going to the Canucks, as long as the return was top notch to balance out the fact that he'd be going to one of our two most hated rivals.
Jarome Iginla
To Canucks for:
Cory Schneider
Eddy Lack
Chris Tanev
Zach Kassian
Jordan Schroeder
Niklas Jensen
Brendan Gaunce
2013 1st, 2nd round picks
2014 1st, 2nd round picks
2015 1st, 2nd round picks
Yeah, then I'd be A-O-K with Iggy to Diverville.

The past couple of deadlines we have seen rediculoua over payments for rentals, the flames could really use a break when it comes to picks and prospects so I hope a team like Boston who needs to play catch up to Pitt is that team this year that makes an overpayment

Iginla > all their "top 6" outisde of Toews, Kane, Hossa. That leaves 3 easy spots for him to occupy. No argument can be made of anyone else being able to bump Jarome. Especially no damned rookies..fcol.
If they think so they're in Lala Land.
I wouldn't want Iggy to go to an organization that doesn't respect him for the caliber of player that he is.
But of course, it all depends on the return..

These guys were great players and Sakic is a very accomplished player, etc. but certainly not close to being the best player of their generations. I would rank Gretzky, Lemieux, and Jagr before Sakic.

Sorry for the bump from 5 or so pages back but this. Thank you for the nice, lengthy response Textcritic but clearly you and I have different definitions of "generational talent". The way I define it (clearly the best player in the league for a number of years and the most dominant of the position they play without question for quite some time) they are both such. You have a different definition, you are entitled to. Perhaps consider that the opinion you hold on the matter is just that, an opinion before creating a post as you did that seems to state it as "fact".
As Fan said as well, if you really want to use the definition you gave in your earlier post, neither Iggy nor Sakic are "generational talents", not even close when compared to Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr etc...
That said my care level on this topic was low when I made the post you decided to quote and it's even lower now. This is all I have to say on the matter.

Bolland, TT and a 1st? I'd be fine with that. Also epic response Roof-Daddy.

Iginla traded to the Bruins? Is he already in Boston? Some believe it's true, but nothing confirmed. Gotta love rumors. #Iginlaabruin
