I don't think Feaster could keep his job if it's Vancouver
even if the Canucks had the best return, the PR of it looks horrible, and on top of the ROR fiasco Feaster can't take another hit there
guessing it ends up being Pitt or Boston as most people think

There's literally nothing Vancouver could offer that would be on any interest to Calgary.

I think (hope) the Flames are being vary carefull of a return like the Smyth trade. It looked great at the time, 2 recent first round picks and a 3rd one coming
Nilsson + O'Marra + Plante - 242 NHL games, and it looks like all of their NHL careers might have come to a swift end within 5 years.
That makes me think maybe they are asking for a Saad, Bennett, or Tarasenko..... Guys they know they are NHL ready and not AHL/KHL bound.
Those teams are probably saying, we are trying to add not subtract.
So maybe Iginla will have to be packaged with a guy like Stempniak?
Iginla + Stempnaik < - > Bennett + Drumilon + 1st
Iginla to add to the roster, Stempniak to replace Bennett

Exactly. Ask for a blue-chipper, not a package of fringe guys. Kick in something if you need to make it happen. Iginla+ for blue chipper, not Iginla for prospect+.

That is a good point, and might be what they need to do.

I find that kinda stupid. Yes, its a long shot that the Flames will do a deal with the Canucks, we also thought the Flames weren't going to do it with the Oilers yet they did, it's all about business here and the only way to improve your club is to receive the best return possible even if its a frigging team you hate.
Only way Feaster loses his job is if the Fans run him out of town due to the fact he traded with a team the fans fataing hate.

Haven't read the entire thread but out here in B.C. they are reporting that Iginla has denied giving a list of teams.

Nilsson, O'Marra and Plante were all considered good prospects at the time though. It's just the nature of the beast.
No team is going to give a sure-fire NHL star for a rental. The types of prospects that always end up in these deals are the type you get in the late 1st round or 2nd round (ie. the type that has like a 30% chance of being an impact NHLer.

Nilsson & a 10th overall sure seemed like blue chippers 5 years ago.
Maybe they want a guy who has already started on the path to proving himself. And maybe the fact that those are the guys they are looking for, is why other teams are saying its too expensive.
My comment was more that maybe it will have to be Jarome + Stempniak/Butler....
So our trade partner could add Jarome and replace there young roster player for this years playoffs.

For sure that is what you're looking at.
In my mind, with the team where it's at and with pr as a part of the decision, if you're going to move iginla at this point, you overpay significantly if you need to to get the very best player you can.
If the point of the deal is to jump start a rebuild, jumpstart it and go all out. Iginla bouwmeester with salary retention for...
Iginla, stajan, glencross if you can get him to waive for...

Iginla talk on TSN
-reiterating four team talk
McKenzie - not sure if there is a front runner, maybe Boston, most motivated, need him more then the other three. Price is going to be high. Flames looking for 1st round pick, primary prospect and secondary prospect
Pierre Labrun - Penguins aren't done, they are all in for this year. Still looking at Iginla as well as other players.
Dreger - Mentions Kipper to Toronto again
-Cammaleri, Giordano, possible once Iginla goes?

Hf speculating Bolland would be part of an Iggy package 26 year old C that the Canucks hate. We need 1st and prospect back

I wonder why so much motivation to move bolland.
seems like he's in every rumour out of chicago.
edit: wait, I just realized that meant hockey's future speculation.
nevermind.

That doesn't make a lot of sense unless they've got a deal for another center in the works. I doubt they want to go into the playoffs with Andrew Shaw as their #2 C.

We want actual prospects. As bad as people say that the flames prospect cupboard is, the Canuck's prospect cupboard is not only empty, but the bottom of it rotted out and fell off.
