That rarely happens. I'd guess he either re-ups with the team he gets traded to or signs with another contender. Only way I see him coming back is if the Flames have a miraculous quick rebuild and he comes back for one final shot in like 3 or 4 years.

Kinda like what Ryan Smyth attempted? Boy that was a terrible deal for both the team and the player. No thanks.

This is not an easy situation and I don't trust Feaster to handle it properly at all.
I'm worried also, but I don't think smugness is the issue. It's the special status Iginla has in Calgary, and the terror that management has of getting crucified if they don't get a huge haul for Iginla. So once again, the asset management of the Flames will be heavily influenced by something other than rational hockey consideration.

I don't think that the Flames should panic but if Boston trades for Clowe then Feaster may be in trouble with only the Hawks and Kings as suitors. If teams are passing Iginla over for the Morrow's and the Clowe's maybe it's a sign that the price is too high and an adjustment needs to be made. It's a fine line with holding out for the best deal as it's going to be tough to get a great return when there's only one or two suitors left at the table.

I'm hoping Shero took notes from Alex Anthopolous, and the Morrow deal is kind of like the Blue Jays acquisition of all the Marlins players for some of their prospects, and then gave up their very best prospects for Dickey afterwards. Basically, you are already chip committed with Morrow and Murray, you might as well go all in with Iggy. Afterall, how many concussion free years do Crosby and Malkin have?

I don't know where to put things anymore:

I am glad that management views Iggy as special, as he is a lot more special than a lot on this board give him credit for. Look at the guys popping up in conversations.

Clowe is 30 now, his best season ever was 24 goals and 62 points. No real reason to expect much more from him at this age. Lucic is 24, and after 2 years of 25-30 goal and 60 point range, has stepped back this year, being on pace for below 50 points.

When Iggy was 24 (Lucic's age) he was stepping past that 60 then 70 point range and the next season was his 50 goal Art Ross year, and showed himself to be the best skater in the league.

In this milennium, Iggy's worst year is better than the best year of either of these two guys. And this year, an off year for him, he is still on pace to match their best numbers ever, when playing on a much worse team, with no top line center, and factoring in that the slow start is a much higher proportion of the season. And people are slotting him in on third lines. Ha.

You have to give credit to Iggy for the consistency he has shown, that is something special. Doing what he does year in and year out is hard to do at any age, as many younger players are learning.

The Flames should expect a lot for him

From the Bruins I would want Dougie Hamilton.

From the Penguins I would want Derrick Pouliot and a first rounder or Simon Despres and a first rounder.

Chance are Iggy will resign with who ever we trade him to, so i would rather him play in the east if we are going to trade him.

Theres a zero percent chance that Boston would be willing to part with Hamilton in exchange for Iginla

People need to stop talking about Hamilton. No chance he moves.

Bruins will not give up Dougie Hamilton.

Penguins will not give up Simon Despres.

These teams are going for the Stanley Cup this season - they won't be subtracting good, contributing players from their current rosters.

I could see this.

Go for it this year and win a cup while you still have Malkin and Crosby.

Then next year trade Malkin before he hit's UFA for an absolute King's Ransom to set up the team around Crosby.

Not even if the Flames threw in superstar Chris Butler?

I think we are going to have to put in a filter on this site for Dougie Hamiltion.

Iggy is too slow for Pittsburgh's style of play. He's simply not a fit for the way they play. And besides, Pittsburgh has plenty of offense. What they need is to fix the defensive gaps in their game. Defence is their Achilles heel right now, not offense.

Iggy isn't slow. He's lots of things, but not slow.

You do know they got Brendan Morrow and Douglas Murray, right?

This too slow thing you keep repeating makes you look slow.

Spot on Feaster needs to get on with it, sadly I really don't believe he is the right person for the job. For a team with savvy businessmen owners they have an a bad record for hiring the wrong people.

I would never trade places with my friend Dougie, Hamilton is a horrible city.
