One thing to remember people saying LA doesn't need wingers, they tried to sign parise this offseason as well.

I would also think that maybe Iginla does not want to give a home town discount due to his standings in the players association who would want him to test the market and set value this summer.
Maybe he's using those pencils to stab fans behind the dome.

This was alluded to on the Fan960 this morning. Iginla basically said to management that he was not interested in re-signing in Calgary which has now forced the hand of management to try and get something for him.

IF Iginla goes, Tanguay will slip even deeper down the depth list as far as confidence and attiude go, which for skilled guys, is as much a part of the receipe for success as soft hands and passing abilty is. Given the term and money he's left owing, that's going to be ugly.

One of the risks of building an Iginla and Friends roster. Or building around an ageing player with no transition looking forward plan.

Tried for Brad Richards, tried for Ryan O'Reilly, and got Olli Jokinen, and Alex Tanguay twice, whom Iginla has said is one of the best people he ever played with.
... and that's just the people we know of. Probably could have done more, but I don't know if it was a lack of effort. Lack of competence/scouting/something else? Could be... but if he's sticking it to the organization for that reason, that'd be pretty bad.

We even brought Conroy back, Cammalleri back, and you could argue that Cervenka was somewhat considered a centre Iggy could potentially play with.

More on Penguins still in on Iggy:
@TicTacGoal: Interesting, @Real_ESPNLeBrun on @TSN1050Radio saying #Pens still all in on Iginla. Imagine that? #NHL #Tradecentre #Flames #Pens

Don't forget Savard a few years back as well. I feel the Flames tried very hard over the years to get Iginla his center. Sure they never found the right guy but that just goes to show why top centermen are so hard to find and how important it is to draft them. It's a shame there will be no Cinderella ending but that's life.

Obviously not directed at you MissTeeks ... but seriously look at that crap, that's so painful to read. Sometimes twitter is so lame.

You can certainly accuse the Flames management of incompetence if that's your bag but laziness or half-assedness? No way.

I get that there are some subtle differences on TV broadcasts, but I think that he is right, the pro scout at a hockey game is probably going to be changing significantly over the next 10 years.

PUCKS is just an additional tool.
You won't be seeing scouts leaving the rink anytime soon IMO.

Not at all surprised at Detroit not being on the list.
Don't think Iggy would re-sign in Detroit and while they were successful at the Olympics together I am not sure him and Babchuk get along the greatest.

I could see Iggy re-signing in DET for a year. A full season with one of the best centers ever to play the game in Datsyuk? Why wouldn't he? He has NEVER had the opportunity to line up with the likes of Pavel, I bet that is a major selling point.

The problem with Detroit is twofold:
a. I'm not sure that they would think they're contenders this season at all. That defence is pretty suspect and I bet they know it.
b. They have less coming down the pipe than Calgary so trading futures is pretty iffy.

Agree with both, but if you're selling DET to Iggy, Datsyuk for a year has a very solid ring to it.
