By that logic Bernier could easily be the best goalie in the league in 3 years.
He has shown a lot more than pretty much anyone who hasn't started 100+ games in the NHL already.

I think Bernier is better then an unproven goaltender. He was highly thought of in his draft class (being a 1st rounder), and since being in the NHL he has put up more then respectable numbers. 27-19-0 with a 2.41 GAA and 0.912 save percentage. With LA losing key defenseman this year, he has looked better in net then Quick has. Bernier is only 24 years old and IMO he is the real deal. I think it would be a good deal for Calgary.

What makes Gillies any different than Irving, Keetley, Ortio that he could basically beat the odds and establish himself as a starting goalie at the age of 22? You realize that's a very rare occurrence in this league?

Ya I be shocked if LA would give up Bernier and Toffoli in a deal for Iggy. Flames would have to add to land both of them. Something maybe like Iggy and Gio. By adding Gio would fill a need for the Kings. Mitchell and Greene are still on the IR and not sure when they'll return.

Weird (no lies), was in the elvator at work and the tv in there said Iginla agreed to waive his NMC. I dont see this reported anywhere...

Bernier and a 2nd is a deal I would do for Iginla.
Anything more than that I think is gravy.
LA is the most likely landing destination in my mind as well. Move penner down to the third line, have Iginla play with Carter and Richards.

Probably saying he agreed for the 4 teams that was speculated yesterday. That list has basically been confirmed as true

If Iginla indeed does intend to not be just a rental and will sign with the team he is dealt to, then absolutely Feaster's price of two prospects and a 1st is justified here.

Yeah, I think I'd be fine with that. Bernier for Iginla straight up isn't a huge interest to me. Bernier might be a starter but I think it's too big of a gamble, goalies are just too unpredictable. I thnk the way you find a starter is load up on 4-5 and let the cream rise to the top.

I was thinking a deal along those lines works out well. If the Flames could squeeze Kyle Clifford and the pick be a 2nd that would be awesome. We could even send back a prospect like Nemisz or 4th liner as well.

The one thing I think that could spoil LA as a destination is Iginla's desire to not be a rental and the prospect of having Iginla play in Calgary's division next year.

Doesn't have to be this year, that just means they can add in another pick for this year. Heck we will give them Irving too lol.

I hope Feaster takes a good long look at Linden Vey if he's talking to LA.

I'm down with that although I would hope the Flames get another propect or draft picks with something conditional if Iginla re-signs. I do believe that too many fans here are discounting Bernier as he will have more immediate impact on the Flames than any draft picks or prospects and removes goaltending as a question mark for this team moving on past Kipper.

Is Bernier any riskier than any of the other prospects being thrown around in trade proposals? If anything Bernier is the surest thing from the list of prospects we'd likely be targeting.

And why the reported value isn't much more than a straight across deal for the two players.
I don't think Bernier is any worse than Corey Schneider. I don't know if he's any better, but I don't think he's a step down in anyway.

I would rather go for a package that doesn't involve Bernier for no other reason than I don't think it's enough (another prospect and a pick, even in 2014 would increase my interest). If the Iginla et al for Bernier et al happens, Feaster has to have a move for Kiprusoff in place either concurrently or immediately thereafter. The last thing I want is a Vancouver situation (I realize they aren't perfect parallels). Give Kipper a shot somewhere else, make Bernier the #1 without question and turn the page.
