If it's Vancouver, we'd have to take back some significant contract. They have no cap space left this year, unless they have some long term IR until the end of the season...
Take back Ballard? If so, that'd make the asking price higher from us imo.
Of topic, but what are they going to do next year? They have 60M committed to 14 players (cap of 64) Buy out Ballard and they have 8M to spent on 8 players? Nevermind the raises "Great Save Tanev" and Jordan Schroeder will be asking for (Tanev makes 600k, Schroeder makes about 1M)

Here are likely returns from each club I would be happy with
Boston
- The Russian kid with the hard to spell name+Krug+1st
Pitt
- Kennedy+Dumolin/Harrington+1st (I don’t see Bennet being on the table, Pitt has no other forward prospects)
LA
- Bernier+2nd
- Bernier+Forbot
- Forbot+1st+lesser prospect
Detroit
- Samuelsson (salary dump)+Tatar+2nd
- One of Jurco+Jarnkrok+Sheahan+1st+Samuelsson
Chicago
- Two of Pirri, Clendening, Morin, Johns, Hayes+1st
- Saad+2nd
- Kruger+Clendening+1st
My expectations for the return are lower than a lot of other folks. I think all of the above are realistic.

Boston is talking about Lucic becoming more and more expendable these days due to lack of production. Don't know how legit that is, though. He's still only 24.
But really,
A 3 combination of their 1st, Spooner, Subban, Krug, Horton could definitely get it done. Tbh they don't have the best prospect pool, however. Which lacks size.
I'd feel almost inclined to deal with Chicago, knowing what they could offer in terms of prospects.

Q: OK, what are the teams?
A: There are multiple reports of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings. I was nervous Saturday about specific teams because there was conflicting information. Initially, the four mentioned to me were Pittsburgh, Boston, Los Angeles and Anaheim Ducks. I don't like to guess and wasn't certain.
Here's the kicker, though. There are some excellent sources who say Iginla would go to the Vancouver Canucks.

I hope the Flames have no interest in Horton whatsoever.
3 years ago maybe but he just isn't the same player anymore.

How about - Iggy to the Canucks for 1st rounder +, who then stumble, and fall out of the playoffs. The Flames then win the lottery with the Canuck's pick.

I'm with the previous poster in hoping like hell that it doesn't end up being Vancouver. With him having a pad in Kelowna, the Kamloops Blazers, etc., I can actually trick my mind into conceiving of the notion, and it horrifies me.
My almost dogmatic hatred for that team is significant, and I'd have a bitter flavour in my mouth for a long time if the dude pledged his allegiance there (doubly so if he were to re-sign). A wondrous package coming back would help to numb the pain, but I'm going to go on my merry way for now and simply convince myself that Vancouver won't have what it takes to pry him out of here.

Horton also has a no-trade clause, so, it will be a delicate situation attempting to deal him off a potential cup roster.

I survive the lockouts ok, but if Iginla puts on a Canucks jersey, I give up on hockey.

Could you imagine how much more utterly intolerable the fan base in Vancouver would be if Iggy went there and proceeded to win the cup? Ouch.

Wouldn't be Vancouver. The instant injection of class onto that roster would result in some sort of temporal time space vortex, the end of the known universe, spontaneous joy riots, and just a lot of things that are really, really not good at all. Bad in fact. Also the end of the known universe.

Horton doesn't make any sense for the Flames, he's UFA this year, not to mention his struggles this year. It's unclear if he's just having a bad year or if his injuries are a factor. I doubt the Flames are interested in that pile of questions/problems for Iginla. The Lucic talk is interesting, he's going to be the highest paid forward on the Bruins next year and he's not producing. I don't think he gets moved, and if he does it'd probably be after the playoffs, he's just having a bad year, but it's not as unthinkable as it was before this year.
