That's classic devil's advocate. He acts like a parent talking to a kid when people don't "get" what he's saying.

"Oh, you don't agree with my position? That's okay, it's because you don't understand, and that's my fault for not teaching it to you in a way you would understand. So I'll try again, and I'll speak slower this time."

I love the LED lights, but I think the manufacturers are going to lose a lot of their customers with some dumb decisions.
My plan was to slowly replace all the lights in my house with LED as they burn out. At $25-$35 a pop I don't want to shell out to pay for all of them at once. The problem is that they keep changing the design so that it seems like every year the bulb looks different. Those new Phillips ones are great, but they are yellow and look nothing like a normal bulb. I am fine with using them but if they redesign it again and discontinue the old ones I will probably switch back to incandescent out of frustration.

They're bound to change them as they become more popular though, especially with them relatively new. I'd hazard to guess that a lot of people replace them all in one shot though.

I spent earth hour playing poker. Eight of us were sharing one light in the kitchen and our collective heat lowered the heating needed in the home. That also means that 7 of us did not turn anything on in our homes during that hour.

So this counts right?

It counts for the seven of you who were not at home. Not for the selfish jerk who had friends over.

None of it really counts though. Earth hour isn't about saving energy during the hour, it is about raising awareness.

I am proud to report that we've successfully ignored Earth Hour once again. Good job, everyone!
