Tkachuk got a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Metropolit. And that 1st was ~15th overall. And Tkachuk still wasn't as big a trade deadline catch as Iginla. I can't eventhink of a bigger catch than Iginla in recent memory. Ryan Smyth got a 1st and two (then) highly-regarded prospects.
On what planet is Iginla worth less?

depends on the market and who iggy is willing to go to.
LA vs Boston in terms of possible destinations won't necessarily drive up the price... especially considering they are the winners of the two last stanley cups

I also still think Pittsburgh is going to go after Iginla. Morrow and Iginla do not play the same role. Morrow is a bottom 6 player. If the rumours are true, Iginla just submitted his list today.
Lots of time left.

I would love that return of two 1sts and a good prospect but I don't believe that's wht Feaster and ownership wants. They want young NHL guys and I don't think any of the contenders want to give up anyone who can contribute in the playoffs this year.
In a sense, you could say there really isn't a match between the Flames and any team.
The question for me is will Feaster ultimately accept picks and prospects come deadline day or will they hold onto Iginla because they don't like picks.
This team has historically been very averse to draft picks and it wouldn't shock me if they could not get a deal done because they don't like the standard currency (draft picks and prospects) for these ufa type deals.

Yeah, when I look at the teams on "the list", I don't see teams that really need Iginla. They're already top teams and likely favourites to win the Cup. They probably see Iginla as nice to have, but not worth selling the farm for.

Just because one desperate GM made a terrible trade six years ago doesn't mean smart GMs like Chiarella and Shero are lining up to do the same.
Hossa was a much bigger catch.

This is also Atlanta we're talking about. It's not like they were the model of sanity.

If anyone suggested the Stars would have gotten highly touted Joe Morrow for 34 year old rental Brendan Morrow this morning they would have been called crazy.
If we're talking precedent here, we have a new one.

Iggy has double the points and lets be real here is a way better player. Asking price will and should be high

Two prospects, who can step in and play in the fall, and a first rounder sounds about right.

Considering I would have been happy with a legit young D prospect and a first, I'd be really happy if we got two solid prospects and a first.

One GM has already over-spent, and it is still a week before the deadline. The few sellers are definitely smiling now.

I think it would have been tough for Pittsburgh to add Iginla to their team. Kunitz and Dupuis have played so well with Crosby, and Bennet and Neal have worked well with Malkin. Whereas Morrow with how he's played slots in better on a third line, and now upgrades their 4th line. There was a Pittsburgh beat writer on the radio in Edmonton on Thursday and he pretty much said the Penguins would be interested in Iginla, but there would be other teams likely willing to part with more to get him. This does seem a deal that fits a lot of that beat writers comments.

Dude, we get it, you hate Jarome Iginla. Can you please just take a break from this thread, though? For all of us, baby.

Crosby has the ability to make just about anyone play well, the guy might be the best play maker I've ever seen. Pucks don't stay on his stick for more than a few milliseconds and somehow Crosby is floating a perfect pass into a scoring position. Iggy/Crosby would make a lethal combination

Honestly Crosby and Iginla are two star players that have played with so many scrubs on the top line with them, it would be fitting they would play together.

Yeah Iginla should be able to fetch quite a healthy return... I also think a rejuvenated Iginla, on a fresh team and under new exciting circumstances, he will be very very dangerous and should help a team enormously in the playoffs.

They *do* make a lethal combination. Iginla leading the last Olympics in goals and a gold medal show it's already a known fact.
They have played a series of games together and have shown great chemistry.

I don't know if Pittsburgh made a play for Iggy, assuming he is being shopped. But if they didn't, I really don't understand why. I don't get this Morrow deal at all really...
