Iginla obviously has a number he wants, meehan is heavily involved in the process. They could of been talking to him.. its all speculation right now.

Fair enough, but if Joke gets injured it's a blow, if Iginla blows out his knee and is done for the season that could have a serious serious impact on the future of the franchise.

I have a hard time believing that the owners box would be in a "tizzy" after just trading their franchise forward... regardless of the return.

If Jokinen gets hurt before the Rangers trade becomes official that means the Flames wouldn't have got Kotalik... which would have been awesome.

Mark Spector Sports @SportsnetSpec 40s Source confirming that #CalgaryFlames are asking for TWO prospects and a draft pick for Jarome Iginla. No question, Iggy being shopped.

Darren Pang on the Blues feed said " Iginla has submitted a list of 4 teams". Dont know how he knows for certain, but sounded pretty certain. No speculation anymore... ?

Proven winner time and time again and still a difference maker even while now playing with no natural centre on a last place team. Not to mention all the other intangibles.
Hard to resist if you're a contender on deadline day.

This is the most excited I've been about the Flames in years. I love orange Julius rumors!!
Also that goal Iggy scored just now was awesome. Bittersweet if he goes.

You got plenty of guys that combined can fetch what Iggy is going to, why trade him?
Can Cammy + Gio not get the same return as jarmoe?

they're not for a rebuild, they were forced into accepting that one was necessary with the Flames 2 points out of last place in the league come trade deadline time. if the Flames had another 2-3 wins under their belt and were pushing for 8th, you can bet they'd be buyers at the deadline to try and push for the playoffs

10 million in cap for this year and beyond? Not many teams value that.

Although the Morrow trade seems to have set a good market for Iginla, I am concerned that we may be asking too much.
As much as I want to see him retire a Flame (and have a framed copy of the Herald's front page with Iggy hoisting the cup in a Flames jersey hanging in my office), I am good with a 'descent' return, and won't be too upset if it is not a home run.
I'd rather that than the alternatives... He walks or we sign him at 3-4 years @ $6m+ (I think I'd be ok with close to that if he was returning after a trade).

Especially if we're looking at only picks and prospects as a return.
Plus I like Gios contract and I think (and hope) he's in the long term plans of the team.

I didn't say they got to this point logically
