Man my Calpuck was loading really slow, then it went to the crash page... my first reaction, frantically start googling twitters to see what we got for Iginla.
Turns out I accidently kicked out the internet cord with my foot from my desktop.
Ohhh man what a Sunday..

Hell, I really hope the top teams that miss out on a bigger player get a little silly. Lee Stempniak has 23 points in 29 games and has been playing well. Wouldn't at all surprise me to see a good pick returned for him.
It starts with Iginla for Feaster and company but it shouldn't end there.
|
Please, Paul gaustad return for stempniak.
Lord thunderin' Jesus, let there be a first rounder for stempniak deal in my future.

Not out of the realm of possibility. Very solid defensively, chips in offensively. Great playoff depth.

I don't think trading Iggy will define Feasters career as a GM. Iggy is a 36 year old UFA. Geez.

After today, nothing would surprise me anymore. If a top-level prospect that the GM claimed only a week ago was "untouchable", can be dealt for impending UFA Brenden freaking Morrow, anything can happen.
I seriously underestimated the desire of GMs to load up for a playoff run when they think they have a shot to win it all.

It could very well define Feaster's GM tenure as a Flame. Iginla's age and UFA status have little to do with how big this trade could be.

Claiming prospects untouchable is just a way to say they have a high pricetag.

When you have a cup within reach, you go for it, no matter if you just won it or haven't won in decades.

No matter Feaster and his track record or current issues, this is one situation regardless where you'd expect the owners to be more involved/kept abreast of the situation, for all the intangibles and status a 17 year Flame has accumulated and what losing that means, and in this case, the I'd be fine with that, assuming they don't nix a fantastic hockey deal for the team going forward.
Wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple teams under the radar as well.

Trade deadline and July 1st are the two dates NHL GM's check their brains at the door and go gambling.

Yup, exactly. I've been saying it all along with potential Iginla talks. GM's start dipping into the crystal Meth and any GM that is selling is in for a huge day.

Claiming mediocre prospects.
I am sure Hubreadeau, Hamilton, Gslchenyuk were untouchable this summer but guys like Gaudreau, Morrow, Rattie better not ever be untouchable or their GMs should be canned.

He's one of those that is tough to place a valuation on.
Streaky guy having a great season. With Dallas seemingly not attempting to make a run of things this year, Nashville or Phoenix could be salivating at the opportunity to take their place. He rings the bell for both orgs.

Trades that define GM's are ones that are gamechangers that everyone is not expecting. Its common knowledge a guy in Iggy's situation is to get traded this year. The return might be amazing or crappy but no way will it define a GM. Yes Iggy is the face of the franchise from previous years but his status right now is a rental player.

He also has a year left at a very resonable price. Makes him more valuable to a team like Phoenix who isn't really in a position to buy this year.
