Despres is still available, I like him more as a prospect than Morrow. Keep in mind he is playing nhl minutes right now so it might be harder to get him out of Pittsburg, but maybe we can send them a young third pairing D (Butler) as part of the package.

I thought about that but the Flames didn't think enough of him to draft him last year so I don't know if they covet him.

@RobRossi_Trib: #TribHKY >> Going into this season, #pens had this as their prospect ratings: 1. Morrow, 2. Bennett, 3. Despres ... but those 3 stood apart

I believe this trade will define his whole nhl gm career.

I feel for the guy. This is just a massive massive pressure situation for him if he trades the captain.
|
Other things at play as well here, do they scratch him for tonight's game if they think they are close? Do they risk playing him in an effort for one last game at the dome?
Is the market heating up or cooling off given the return on the first big UFA domino?
Now that morrow has been moved, are other players like jagr in play that may not have been yesterday? How does that effect iginla and his value.
Would love to be in the room witnessing how this goes down.

Are you nuts? Maybe 4 years ago. I'd say despres, Tyler Kennedy and a 2ed for Iggy.

Well he did win a cup as GM so at the end of the day that should define him more than a trade.

I highly doubt it. If they are going to add more it will be on D.

Nope, I'm not nuts. Most NHL GM's are though, at this time of the year.
Tis the silly season.

What Feaster and the Flames do defines a lot going forward.. and that's an understatement.
Hell, I really hope the top teams that miss out on a bigger player get a little silly. Lee Stempniak has 23 points in 29 games and has been playing well. Wouldn't at all surprise me to see a good pick returned for him.
It starts with Iginla for Feaster and company but it shouldn't end there.

But wouldn't Iginla think going to Pitt will have higher chance to win? It depends on what the Penguins have in their tank for another trade.
I guess the question is, by adding Iginla (assuming Boston is also high to sweeten the pot), would Boston be able to match up with the Pens in the east?
