I don't think anyone will be celebrating the trading of Iginla, other the people with biased hate of the guy. Infact it will be the hardest day since as flames fan since that night in June 2004.
The only thing is that the organization will finally realize after so many fruitless attempts to get into 8th, that this team is broken, the philosophy of the organization is broken and its time to destroy and rebuild.

I say he gets dealt at the deadline. He's not winning a cup here anytime soon and we've reached the point where we're pretty much dead last in the league with next to nothing on the way to help us. I hope it's the Penguins or Bruins he ends up with as having him with LA in the same division/conference as us next year would be less than ideal.
That said I'm really most concerned with the best return we can get for him. So if Darryl's pushing hard in LA and they end up offering the sweetest package then go for it.

Rumour has it Morrow is heading to Pitts.
I guess we can knock that list down to three..

As someone already mentioned in the thread regarding this, hopefully this makes Boston think even harder about what they're willing to give up for Iggy..

A lot of those Calgary Sun end of season polls have shown his popularity on the decline amongst fans and while nobody here can quantify the split between fans that want him to remain and fans that are fine with him leaving make no mistake a lot of fans are ready to move on. The Flames will exist post Iginla and eventually better times will come to this franchise.

That was in reference to 3 years ago...but keep on fighting the good fight dude.
As for the results from that survey 3 years ago?

Looks to me like half of Flames fans have been ready to see him go for a year now. You are right about one thing though. I am fighting the good fight and have been for years. Looks like what I knew years ago needed to be done is finally in the works. Better late than never.

I only saw the translated version of teh article, but nowhere in it did I see the words 'only 4 teams'.
This article is speculation - I would think that they are guessing the teams, and it is no coincidence that the 4 listed are among the most heavily rumoured.
Anyway, even if they have the 4 right, there is no reason to believe that the 4 is a complete list. THe way I read it was: he has submitted a list and we believe these 4 teams are on it (as opposed to: we believe these 4 teams are the entire list)
Finally, if he has given a list, and there is a team not on the list that is making an offer, the FLames can still go to him and see if he would accept that team.
All this panic that there are only 4 teams seems pretty silly IMO.

Chicago in the hunt for Jarome Iginla. If Pens get Morrow, CHI, BOS and LA will drive price up for Iginla. Good news for Flames.

Quit moving the goalposts man...this was about a statement that people wanted him moved 3 years ago...they DIDNT...you were wrong again...just admit it.
For the record i am all about Iginla getting dealt for a variety of reasons, bt the nonsense that has benn trotted out particularly the last 2 weeks or so about him and his place in Flamesland has been agregious.

Of the 4 teams listed, the only one I can't see making a move for Iginla is Chicago. I just don't see how that addresses a need for them, and I don't see why they'd give up value for a bit more scoring - something they don't need anyway.
The other three all make sense, it's just a matter of who's got the best offer.

Read my initial post again and note how I said his support was waning. 30% is still a fairly large number three years ago and it was below 50% last year. Backs up my comment. The only goalpost moving is by you because you.
Oh and the nonsense view is in the eye of the beholder. Iginla is no saint in this whole Flames mess and I'm not for kicking him out the door but I have no problems moving on from his leadership of this club all the same.

I kind of don't get this logic. What team doesn't want more scoring? Sure their scoring looks great now but what if injuries in the playoffs hit?
If you feel you can win the cup you increase your already great depth.

Don't need a pat on the back from you. I have the posts going back years to prove it. The fact that you loathe me is all the satisfaction I need. A poster here you can't badger or break. A poster that will stand up for you and go toe to toe. Fear-monger? Pussycat IMO.

It's better for the Flames to deal him, but it will be difficult seeing him in a different uniform. Hopefully he decides to resign at a discounted rate in the offseason after winning a Stanley Cup. My guess is he will be going to Pitt or with his buddy Ference in Boston. Either way he'll be wearing a Black jersey

Jarome is a proven playoff player he's much more then just scoring goals.

Gotta' think, maybe Iginla and Sutter have talked and LA was at the top of his list? If he doesn't go to the Pens, I could see LA where he ends up.
After the Morrow trade though, I hope he goes to Boston as we could get a kings ransom for him.

Sure, it never hurts to have more, but if I was Chicago I'd look at my roster, which has been dominating all season, and then I'd consider how much Iginla is going to add to that roster and weigh that against how much it would cost to add him.
In the end, I'd expect Iginla to help a bit, but cost a lot, and frankly, I wouldn't be convinced the roster I've already got couldn't run the table anyway. So I wouldn't make that trade. I'd be much more inclined to add cheaper, grittier depth that wouldn't make me sacrifice the team's future to any degree. It just doesn't seem necessary.
Of the bunch, I still think LA is the most likely trading partner, particularly if Morrow really has gone to Pittsburgh as rumored.
If I was Chicago, I might find Bouwmeester more attractive in principle given his compatibility with their high speed game. I imagine there'd be salary issues there though.

The Blackhawks know pretty well that regular season dominance is fairly insignificant in terms of translating into playoff success. That said, the last team that seemed to dominate the regular season so much was the Ducks during their cup year and they did nothing at the deadline - even though Burke had worked out a trade for Jason Blake that didn't make it to the NHL on time to be approved.
