Good write-up.

How does Hartley not call a timeout after Foligno's second goal? Just to settle Kipper down, who looked like he was fuming after being hung out to dry. It likely would have prevented the goal 30 seconds later. Not that it mattered in the end though. Maybe the coaching staff has given up also.

As somebody said before, I feel embarrassed for the Calgary firefighters to be linked to this crap team.

Firefighters and the team kind of make sense.

Firefighters snuff out flames and make sure they don't get their job done.

Alot has been said in the last few PGTs but a couple points I don't think have been mentioned:

1. Is it possible this team has already tuned out Hartley? The players seem very robotic in their play and in their interviews. No creativity, no passion, no battle. This is typical of teams who have given up on their coach. Warrener was saying something along these lines on the FAN on Friday morning.

2. Has Wideman been getting a free pass? For me his defensive play has gone from average to terrible over the course of this season. His play on Columbus' second goal was atrocious. Take the man, not the puck - that is something an NHL defenseman should not have to be told. My son plays defense on his Novice team and even he was screaming at the TV that you can't give a forward that much space and let him waltz past you.

That's what you get with Wideman. Powerplay Player.

Only took them 29 games this time. Even though I wasn't a big fan of Brent Sutter its clear the problem is far deeper than behind the bench. I like some of what Hartley has tried to bring to the table this season. He doesn't have much to work with.

It only took the flames about 15-20 games to tune out Sutter's "Junior Style Coaching Tactics".

Wouldn't surprise me if they've tuned out Hartley.

I don't know if there is much to tune out, though.

Foligno is the type of player we need. Big, strong forward capable of playing 2nd/3rd line. Can't believe they got him for Methot. Where were we?

Yeah people may remember that it wasn't long into Brent's first season when it was noted that Iginla wasn't fond of Brent's "junior style coaching tactics". I'm not sure there's a coach this group has really followed since Darryl Sutter so it's hard to say that they have tuned out any of these guys as don't you have to tune in first before you can tune out?

Quality requires quality. Methot was hugely underrated because he played for Columbus. He's playing great hockey for Ottawa.

I must return to my defense of Mike Keenan (belated) - in retrospect, he seemed to understand this group perfectly.

Where was this "noted"? You've got to back up what you say and you are notorious for not doing that.

Sutter got a team that was even worse than this team to the 9th seed. And we were happy when he was fired. Lol. Now look at us.

It initially came from Brooks, then was reported by a couple of other media personnel and became a story again after Iginla was seen arguing with Dave Lowry about positioning during a practice. Iginla's problems with the coaching staff were later confirmed by our own JiriHrdina that Iginla wasn't playing the way he was being directed to, and that the three years we watched Iginla circling the neutral zone for a breakout pass or standing idly at the blueline were not, in fact, part of the coaching strategy.

Sort of like Iginla not lobbying for free agency and linemates, this is pretty much put to bed.
