Default Oiler Tickets--feel dirty asking this

I have a birthday party I am putting togeher for an Oilers fan. I want to get 12 tickets to the Oilers game on March 2 fairly close together. I checked the Oilers site and can't get more than 8 in one buy. Also looks like most seats are sold. Any idea on how to get more tickets? I am a Flames season holder, do they help get tickets in other buildings? Group rates?

Just a question, I feel dirty.

Snagged standing room tickets, the place is sold out. Should be good enough for a single game. Besides, who wants to send a bunch of money on an Oilers game?

We used to make an annual pilgrimage 2001-2006 to go Northlands slumming. Started as a group of 4 of us, and ended about 25 of us by 2006.

Many stories to tell, each more pathetic than the last about the crap the arena staff and some of the dink fans try and pull up there on Flames fans.

By 2004, they restricted sales to non-season ticket holders of blocks of tickets more than 8, and my buddy who was doing the buying found out that year, by saying we were from Calgary, we couldn't get 4 in a row anywhere together.

So, for the game in early 2006 we had a guy from Edmonton buy them...magically we were able to get 8 in a row and other 4+ blocks for the group.

If there isn't enough reasons to hate Edomnton, I go there for this game, first time there in about 5 years, use an ATM and my card gets skimmed for almost a grand. I hate Edmonton!!!

I am trying to get 3 tickets to the April 13 game against the Flames. They are sold out online but StubHub has some available still. Does anyone know of any other reliable method to get tickets or is StubHub the best choice?

Also, has anyone been there recently that can comment on the quality of fans in the arena and whether or not a Flames Jersey is acceptable? I will be taking a client and co-worker both of whom are Oilers fans. I will cheer for the Flames either way but want to keep things professional which means no getting into fights with greasy Oiler fans.

Pay a really unskilled low level peewee team to wear Oiler silks, the game will suck just as bad and your party guests won't know the difference.

I have been to a few Flames / Oilers games at Rexall in a Flames jersey. It is not so bad provided you're in control of your own behavior. If you go there and do not provoke anyone I'm willing to bet the worst thing that might happen is you get honked at on the street while walking towards the stadium or booed in jest as you walk by the odd person.

That all being said mixing copious alcohol consumption while in the presence of mulleted Edmontonians at an Oiler game who are spewing propaganda about RNH being the 21st Century Gretzkey might make it difficult on you to avoid saying something that could be viewed as offensive to their greasy sensibilities. That's where you might run into problems.

Good to know, I do not intend to drink all that much so I should have no problem keeping my mouth shut about my thoughts on Edmonton's future.

Wow, what civil behavior. I look back at some of the awful things I was involved with as a visiting fan in Edmonton and I am embarassed now. Young, crazy, stupid.

I try very hard when faced with annoying Edm and Van fans here in Calgary, to just remember what my friends and I were like back in the day.

Don't want to derail this, but why are there some posts that I can't "thank" on this and other threads, when other people already have?

My fan behavior in Edmonton for whatever reason is bi-polar. While at Rexall for a hockey game I'm pretty civil and do not get into problems.

My annual Labour Day rematch group and I behave badly at Commonwealth at Stamps / Eskimos games and generally my group gets what we deserve. I remember that one year when Edmonton first hired Eric Tillman as their GM the week before Labour day. I was so gooned at half time while the Stamps were ahead that I was yelling to the Eskie fans not to worry because "Eric Tillman likes coming from behind" and proceeded to get beer chucked at me. A friend of mine got sucker punched after one of those games while we were celebrating, because we were marching around the concourse 'orangemen parade' style.

We got just as drunk at Commonwealth, but I think hockey brings out more intensity/ hatred.

We were there last weekend and our Visa got skimmed and used in Indonesia... Only for $50 and we got the charges reversed, but still a PITA.

Stupid Edmonchuck.

I forget the timeline; but you can only thank posts that are less than 2 weeks old.
