I think Dukes best is better than anyone else but they just seem to struggle with consistency at times. Almost complete opposite of the Smith/scheyer/Singker team that win it a few years ago.

Plumlee can't handle a top big man, he's too soft. Without him Duke's best isn't that great.

Also, hilarious that you're a Duke fan.

Such a great tournament and about as perfect as you can get for TV watching.

I don't know how you could possibly make a case that a team like Virginia had a better year than the teams in the A10. The fact that A10 does not have BCS football, does not mean it wasn't a top basketball conference this year.

Better competition and schedule.

If Virginia played in A-10 they easily make it in the tournament but no big deal they punished small schools for awhile just seems like they went a little too much other way this year.

St Mary's vs Memphis appears to be working right now.

I love it that, starting back at the conference tournaments, essentially 200+ teams have a chance to win the national championship by winning out, no matter how bad they have been up to the point.

Take note NCAA football- you don't even have a FBS national championship!

Virginia went 0-3 against CAA teams. I have doubts they would have gone better than 11-7 in the ACC. The top 12 or so A-10 teams are better team for team than the ACC this year. It is only football biases that label the A10 and MWC as mid majors.

I am not sure i agree with that and think if there was an ACC/a-10 challenge the ACC easily wins but maybe I am putting to much emphasis on the top ACC teams being so much better than the A-10 teams.
Either way Virginia has some terrible losses and only has themselves to blame but LaSalke beat exactly 0 impressive teams and should not have been in the tournament even as a play-in team.

No they arent...thats just ridiculous. Their top 4 might be on par or close to it...but past that it is no contest.

There are so many differences between football and basketball that an attempt to make any comparison is ridiculous.

What makes the NCAA Tournament (and to a lesser extent, some smaller conference tournaments) so great? I'd say it's the stakes. Win and you have a chance at a championship. Lose and you're done. That pretty much describes NCAA football's regular season.

After the top 4, it is a bunch of football schools that don't care about basketball:

Florida St
Maryland
BC
Georgia Tech
Wake Forest
Clemson
VA Tech

vs some solid basketball programs:

la salle
UMass
Xavier
Charlotte
Richmond
St' Joes
Dayton
St. Bonnies

Next year will be a completely different story with ACC getting stronger, and A10 losing teams, but this year the A10 holds it own.

Wichita State up by 15 on Pitt very late in the game. I don't have them beating Gonzaga in my bracket, but I am looking forward very much to seeing that matchup (assuming Gonzaga isn't the first #1 to lose in the first round).

Maryland and GT have been to finals in the last 10 years so tough to call them football schools that don't care.
Those first 4 teams on the ACC list compete for A-10 title most years if moved there. The A-10 had a good year but they are not in the same class of the ACC.

Maryland, Ga Tech and Wake Forest all have pretty strong basketball histories.

The A10 was 3-13 against the ACC this year by a quick calculation.

That doesn't help my argument any, but I'd argue small sample size.

A10 is 3-0 so far in this tournament. Let's keep score that way!

Seriously Gotlieb, they don't have comparable athletes in the WCC as they do at Southern?
I could understand if they are playing Duke/Indiana/Kentucky but I am fairly certain Gonzaga has dealt with the athletes that SOuthern has.

Although as I type this the PBP guy seems to think that Southern has great athletes as well so maybe I am missing something.
