I'm sure you're not partial to Cornell players at all, right?

hockeydb is an excellent source for stats and draft info, but not really for height and weight info ... most of the time, it is very outdated in that regard. Both eliteprospects and Sustr's UNO profile have him listed at 218, I think that's more realistic at that point.

A) already maxed out on contracts.
B) we already have 2 dmen sitting in the press box. (assuming he even is NHL ready)

Well, they have had a lot of players dramatically surpass pro expectations over the years as opposed to many more hyped college UFA's and draft picks who have flopped.
Ben Scrivens
Matt Moulson
Colin Greening
Riley Nash
Doug Murray
Ryan O'Byrne
Not a lot of college teams with six players in the NHL. And not one of those guys had any hype coming out of college except maybe Nash as a first rounder. And current players Joel Lowry (Dave's son) and Brian Ferlin are as sure-fire NHLers as I have seen there in the last 20 years. Plus Cole Bardreau who was on the US U20 team and draft eligible this year I believe.

Sorry but you have the order wrong, the correct order as detirmined by teams of scientists working with super computors is
1) Feaster signs him, at which point he is the heir apparent to Chara and Lidstrom all rolled into one, immediatly making a rebuild pointless and aint it wonderfull Iggy will get his cup this year wearing red, then he has a crappy game at which point we write him off and decide to immolate Feaster for tricking us with such hope.
or 2) Feaster doesn't sign him, in which case it is proof positive that the Flames are surely doomed (until we forget about him) or he has a good game or two then we revert to 'we're doomed I tell ya'

Surprised to hear he's fielding offers. Last I heard he was thinking of finishing his degree then trying to make the jump straight to the NHL. At this point most teams would be picking him up for the farm team I think. Big kid who has put up decent numbers and is surprisingly mobile for his size. Definitely worth taking a flyer on.

We have a bunch of Czech players, that probably doesnt hurt. It would be nice if the Flames could just once land one of these guys.

Similar height to Breen but 25 lbs lighter with more offensive potential. If that translates to NHL offense I'm not sure, but wouldn't be a bad signing.
If it were between him and Breen I would stick with Breen.

We should just try to get Babchuk claimed off of waivers. Dump 2.5 million on someone else and sign this guy.

Rangers interested in Sustr, Dekeyser
Quote:
The Rangers are one of the many teams interested in signing college free agent defenseman Andrej Sustr, who plans to leave the University of Nebraska-Omaha and field NHL offers, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.
Upwards of 25 teams have expressed interest in the 6-foot-8, 210-pound Sustr, whose college team was eliminated from the WCHA tournament this past weekend, and he may be narrowing the field soon.
Dekeyser headlines a small class of coveted college free agents, although it is believed that the Detroit Red Wings have the inside track on the 6-3, 200-pound defenseman. The Clay Township, Mich., native played youth hockey with Red Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill’s son, Trevor. Dekeyser also played under Jeff Blashill at WMU as a freshman. Blashill is now the head coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings’ AHL affiliate.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
College UFA 6-foot-8 D Andrej Sustr will cull list of 20 to 25 interested NHL teams tomorrow and Friday, likely to sign by weekend.

I guess that cuts the Flames out. Unless Feaster can unload some contracts for draft picks before the weekend.

Why's that? We were at 49 contracts when we signed O'Reilly to the offer sheet. So we should be at 49 contracts still no?
