I think this looks pretty awesome! As a guy who has fished the bow many times and wouldn't even consider eating from it, I do think its gross that people will swim in it, but to each their own I suppose.

There is absolutely no point in trying to develop something in Calgary and claiming it is a beach. None.

This is just a temporary measure. Our long term plan is to promote global warming until we're warm and have a coast.

what's gross about it, compared to other city rivers? I'm not doubting you, just curious.

Isn't the Bow one of the cleanest urban rivers in the world? Thought I read that somewhere.

Just the things you see floating in there, which might be completely harmless at the end of the day, but are disgusting. Used condoms probably being the most repulsive. I totally see how with that much water its a non-factor, but I still don't wanna swim in it, or eat from it! I definitely wouldn't drink from the river and that would happen to some extent if people are going to swim in it.

The Bow could well be one of the cleanest urban rivers, I have no idea. I have no doubt that this 'beach' will get a lot of use as well, but I highly doubt that I could be convinced to be a user myself (at least of the water).
