I'm tired of the retros. Mostly because of the orange type red they are. Need a deep red, like the current home or '04 jersey.

I wish the Flames didn't wear the current retros so much. Colour kills my eyes.

Haven't you guys heard?

I mean, I thought it was pretty common knowledge that once you go black, you in fact, do not go back.

Keep the Black, 1989 is where it's supposed to be, in the past. Besides, do you want this current suckage staining the pride those jerseys brought you from waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the 80's?

I'd love to hear which one Flames players actually like better, between the retro and the black C. I've only ever heard two players in the past mention it (Conroy and Backlund), and both totally preferred the retros. I have a feeling if you polled the locker room, the retros would win out in a landslide. As they should.

I just like how much flashier they are. I actually got used to the black C after awhile, and even own 2 jerseys of it. But since the retros came back, I forgot how much better they are. After a game in the retros, I always find the regulars so dull looking.

I really hope this new 3rd doesn't mean the end of the retros. If the white never makes an appearance it'll be a crime.

Ok, there is no way it's the same shade of red, it's clearly a deeper red.

It's the exact same red. I've got both jerseys and put the two reds right beside each other and they are identical.

Not to pick on your post, but this has been discussed before and it is 100% without any shadow of a doubt whatsoever, the same colour red on both the current homes and the retros. Look at all the mockups, like Zarley's below:

Notice how the retro colours look much yellower than the deep red of the jersey with black? Pull both images into photoshop and colour pick them. The same colour - a61923. The Flames are a brand and their brand's red is the same on both jerseys (but not the abysmal HC ones). The photos that you've linked to show the Jerseys in different lighting scenarios. Can't compare them. Take the retro and the current home jerseys, fold them over so that no other colours are showing but red, and compare them side-by-side. Same red.

That said, I definitely agree the retros look jarringly orange - especially on TV. I think they should definitely pull some yellow out of the retros to make them APPEAR more like the current homes. This will never happen, unfortunately.

If you say something that is wrong, people are going to point it out. That's all.

Just because I recently signed up (mainly to be able to put various users on ignore to avoid their drivel) does not mean I'm new to what CP is and what most posters here think it is. If you don't like my posts, then ignore me. Crying to mommy because you don't like the new kid doesn't make you special. Well not in anything but the Oilers Something Special kinda way.
Fabulous idea. There's been a little bit extra drivel here this month, and this will help!

On topic, what I'd like to see in a jersey concept would be the red flaming C, but on a red background so just the outline shows up. I'm thinking something very minimalist, almost like a practice jersey. Can any of you guys with the design templates oblige?

Does anyone know how often NHL teams tend to change or introduce new jerseys? I thought there was a standard of every 3 to 4 years.

I actually think the black jerseys from '99 (that generally are rejected by most here) with instead of the horse, the retro style flaming C in front to provide contrast and perhaps an altered lining (no diagonal branching) would look fantastic.

San Jose's black home (3rd) jerseys for example are so badass. The Kings..not as great. But if the black style is done well, it looks really sleek and again, just badass.

But then you just can't talk fans out of their deep liking of the old style (which we still see just about every saturday game), which is fine. But I think that at some point you've got to try something different. As a soon to be designer, it's just something I'd like to see with the Flames. Perhaps something to go along with a (hopefully) new, re-built Flames team to emerge in a few years?

I'm just thinking that instead of having the red jerseys with the black C, try black jerseys with the red/yellow C. I know someone did a mockup with this kind of style in the other thread, but had grey in it as well (not sure about that). I would change a few things but that's the right idea.

black is not, and never was, an official color of the Flames..would love very much to bring back home and away retro's full time with some type of new idea for a third...please no black or Silken Laumann/John Elway portrait on the front...

Just wondering if anyone knows, off hand, if any of the original 6 teams added black or any other colors to their uniforms since their start? I kind of remember some of them fooling around with stripe size and layout.

The only teams I can remember altering their uniforms dramatically were in periods of suckage...ie: the Islanders, Kings, Canucks, Penguins etc. Although I think the Penguins have had a few changes even when successful.

It seams to me Detroit even had a long period of being terrible in the late 70's 80's before they started to draft guys like Yzerman and Lidstrom. I don't remember much fooling around with their uniforms.

How about... instead of wasting dollars figuring out ways to come up with a new jersey in a cash grab - invest more in time effort and money in winning. Nothing sells like winning. You can't divert my attention from the teams performance buy giving me something else to look at...and I like the retro's. Wish they would bring back the whites.
