errors are tough to appraise. as with anything 'collector', it is worth what the market would pay for.
this is a simple pack out error, usually not that big of a deal. i would say 10-20% more than a 'regular' item. there is no error (that i know of) on the item itself. generally, the error on the item is where the money is at. for example, if he had a different head, gloves, base (logo). or, wrong/misspelled name, number, logo, or info on the item/package.

Not really related to the topic but does anyone else find it odd that people are willing to pay more for a defective product??

I wouldn't pay more for that error, to be honest. It adds nothing to the product, which to me is the value of a McFarlane.
The other factor is the quantity that were produced with that error, and I cannot say how many there are like that. With little demand comes little value.
A coin with the wrong year stamped on it offers more value and I would pay more for it. I have several incorrectly minted coins that are more valuable than the mint condition coin simply because these particular ones are more rare. But they have no value unless someone is willing to pay for them.

It's so hard to gauge with McFarlane's, they had so many intentional variants, and they are obviously made somewhere where attention to detail was not a huge concerns, as there are ton's of errors to figures out there. This figure is fine other than it's upside down, and so are the labels on the case.
I'm usually don't give much weight to errors in any collectible's, usually the only ones that have a high premium are production errors that they changed mid run, I just was really hoping this one was rare enough to fund my kids tuition. Oh well, guess I'll have to keep hunting.
:P

I love how "Now with Canucks" is in quotes like it's some kind of dirty euphemism.

That first year Proset in the early 90s hand a mistake in probably around 15% of the cards, it was seriously garbage.
