Didn't the oilers pretty much do this right after they drafted Hall? Went back to their retros full-time?

Game day video on the Jumbotron will include a video of Begin wheeling up on his rascal, just like Todd Simpson on the harley back in the day.

Why do you old people so desperately want to cling to what makes you feel young and like you were cool, even though you probably weren't?
|
LOL what are you even talking about, son? It's not about "clinging to the past". It's about getting back to REAL Flames colours. Black was a gimmicky colour they incorporated in the mid-90's because it was the trendiest colour in sports at the time, seemed like every team had a black 3rd back then. And now its long outlived its shelf life. Time to do what pretty much every other team who jumped on the trend back then did years ago; ditch it.

I also like the 2004 home jerseys better than the retros, but nothing beats the white retro uniforms. Man, I hope they bring those back. So nice.

I look forward to more recollections from you in the future as the Old Muskets take the stage.
Perhaps tonight's Game Thread Distraction should be unsung heros of bygone Days of the Flames.

Why? If a jersey looks good, why change it?
Should Edmonton change their jerseys? Montreal?

We shouldn't change it. Our currents look better than our retro's imo.

They would if we got rid of the piping and changed the shoulder patches... but as it stands, they do not.

And as much as I wish the Flames went full home and away retros, I have a feeling it's not going to happen.

LOL the Laffs. They've had multiple jersey designs ever since RBK took over. Old for the sake of old is NOT a good thing. The Flyers and Oilers jerseys are far from attractive and in the case of Edmonton another gimmick to try and sell their fans on "the way it'was".
The Flames retros were a nice call-back during an anniversary year. They were way over used (infact used more than the actual home jerseys) the next year. We've had our little trip down memory lane, now it's time to move forward. And black isn't an awful colour when used properly. Just because some of you don't like it doesn't make it so. Seems there's other's who've agreed with me not to mention the vast number of Flames jerseys containing black in them throughout the Dome some 4 seasons after the retro's were brought back. The orange-red needs to be hung up for another 20 years.

I hope you're kidding. I generally like the color scheme, however the stupid stripes and the sides are awful.

Bad timing on that league-wide gimmick with vertical stripes because the home red prior to the lockout was incredible and forever synonymous with that awesome team.

It's a shame they are getting rid of the retro, I have a felling the new third is going to be awful.
Icethetics did a poll last season ranking all of the jerseys in the NHL, Calgary third came in 4th overall. The home and road were in the 50s.

Hope it's a blend of old (retro) and new (04), or white retro jerseys to make them our primaries.
