Rumor: Flames to Have New 3rd Jersey Next Year
This is still just a rumor but from two sources who have an inside track on these things (both manage stores that specialize in selling hockey jerseys) the Flames will be introducing a new 3rd Jersey next season.
They have not seen the new jerseys yet (keep these thing pretty closed due to knockoffs) but have been informed that they will be moving out the old jerseys to make room for new 3rds.

I hope that means the retros become the new home jerseys and we get an awesome new third jersey to go along with it.

The Flames are stinking up the joint.
New clothes don't make the body odour any better.

Oh hell no! They need to be hung up for good. 5 times in 09-10 was a treat. 19 times in 10-11 was gawd awful. Last season was a decent comprimise but after 3 stragith games this season I'd had enough. We aren't the fricken Oilers. Why do you old people so desperately want to cling to what makes you feel young and like you were cool, even though you probably weren't?

Ya, I would agree with you, however, I think the team would opt for a whole new design for regular jerseys instead. At the end of the day they have already sold the retro jerseys and there is likely more profit in selling a whole new design.

The retro jerseys are perhaps the best looking jerseys the Flames have ever worn. What are you, a fan of some other team that got demolished when the Flames wore those jerseys? You are probably a jealous Islander fan. Hello captain highliner!

Horsehead Jersey to coincide with The Old Muskets™.
Didn't the oilers pretty much do this right after they drafted Hall? Went back to their retros full-time?

I just hope for a simple, clean design. Nothing with stripes, nice clean lines.
In the past the Flames have had some of the nicest jerseys in the league, no reasons we can't again.

I really hope they don't go full retro. The MacDonald vintage jerseys are nice once in awhile for nostalgia sake, but they're from another era. They do not look good today IMO. Really, whenever I see them, I think of mullets and walkmans.

What the hell is this? How old do you think I am dude?
Anyways.... putting aside the above poster's pre-pubescent rant, I just like the retro jerseys because they're clean, simple, classy and don't include any god awful black. When I see those jerseys I think of all the former Flames greats like Nieuwendyk, Lanny, Theo, MacInnis, and the 1989 Stanley Cup. That's what I sports uniform is supposed to do, it's supposed to tie in the present with the past. It seems like it would be an honour for a young player like Sven or Brodie to put on the same threads as previous Stanley Cup champions. The current jersey set is meaningless and looks absolutely brutal.

I like the 2004's and the currents better than the retro jerseys because they have that totally awesome black.

The retro jerseys should never have been messed with in the 90s. The Rangers, Hawks, Leafs, Habs, etc realized they had a great thing going and didn't need to mess with tradition to adapt some marketing gimmicks like adding black and some new age stripping.
And as much as I wish the Flames went full home and away retros, I have a feeling it's not going to happen.
I was at the Fanattic and found out they don't have the $300 authentic Retros anymore, and they aren't ordering anymore in. That leads me to believe the retro jersey could be on the way out. Take that for what it's worth anyways.
