I'm glad the goalie made the save because it made the shooter look like an idiot. You're risking a point in the standings by trying an idiotic move.

I think the saying: Don't hate the player, hate the game - really applies to this situation. If you're gonna institute a gimmicky way to decide a game, then you gotta live with the gimmicky moves that come along with it.

I understand the reason for the "ringette" type handling of the puck, as you can spin around and shovel the puck in faster with the stick like that. It was a hell of a reaction save!

Besides looking neat, this move has very little practical application.
That presumes that you don't find a way to change it up the next time. It wouldn't be all that hard for a talented guy to pull his stick off the puck and find a way to elevate it or throw another twist in there. It didn't work this time, but it came pretty close, and it gives goalies something to think about going forward.

What if the player had taken a wrist shot that was saved, or a regular deke that went wide? Would you have said good try? That was a nice wrister into his blocker? Shootout attempts are not automatic goals, unless you're Patrick Kane. Every time you are in a shootout you are risking a point, whether you take a slapshot, wrister, deke, or something someone hasn't seen before.

Look at the Flames shootout record last year. We could have used some creativity instead of all those losses.

Rask knew that that puck was not leaving the ice, kinda limits the shooters options. The shootout is already a joke no sense turning it into more of one.
